Practicum I, II, III, and IV experiences are offered at The University of Tampa
Students are at different developmental stages.Be supportive and be their coach; not just their
critic.Elem. teachers who departmentalize, please
allow interns to gain experience in other subject areas.

them create specific goals. Consider giving them one or two things to focus on improving.
Helpful HintsFirst Week suggestions (page 19 of
handbook):Introduce your intern to administrators and
other faculty members.Give him/her a tour of the school.Develop a tentative transition plan.Set expectations and share any necessary
information about the students (share cum folders and I.E.P. s when appropriate).
Allow them to actively observe you.
More Helpful HintsDuring the internship:If there is a problem, or the intern has many
weaknesses, please address them with the intern and supervisor.
Model, coach, scaffoldInvite and encourage interns to attend faculty
meetings, workshops, and P.L.C. meetings with you.
Dress codePlease be positive about the teaching profession!
