Doyouaccepttransfercreditsfromschool?(ifyouhaveanytotransfer)Therulesvaryfromstatetostate,andfromschooltoschool–somethingtothinkaboutifyouplantomoveabout.Thisisalsoamajoradvantageofonlinedegreeprograms,however,asyouareonlygeographicallylimitedbytheavailabilityofaninternetconnection,butmakesuretocheckeachschool’stransferpolicy.

4. Doyouofferanycreditforlifeexperience?Someprogramsmayhavethemeanstoassessandconvertyourlifeexperience–includingmilitaryexperience,professionalcertifications,andworkexperience–tocollegecredit.Thesemeansmayincludestandardizedtestsorcreditsfromotherinstitutions.Creditpoliciesandtheamountofcreditallowedvarybyschool.Informationspecificallyaboutconvertingmilitaryexperienceintocollegecreditsmaybefoundat:http://www.military.com/timesaving-programs/college-credit-for-military-experience

5. Theenrollmentagreementistypicallyathreetosevenpagedocumentthatcontainsyourpersonalinformation,yourprogramofinterest,whattheinstitutionispromisingyou,andwhatyourobligationstotheinstitutionare.

Onceyousignthedocument(youmaye-sign,orsignmanuallyandfaxormailback),youhaveenrolled!

Step3:CourseRegistrationMostinstitutionswillrecommendwhichclassestoregisterforfirst.Othersmayletyouselectfromthecoursecatalog.Keepinmindthatifyourschoolrecommendsthatyouregisterforcertainclasses,itisbesttodosoaccordingtotheirguidelines.Inmostcases,youcanregisteronlineoroverthephone.Onceyoucompleteyourregistration,manyschoolsofferanorientationcoursetofamiliarizeyouwiththeirformat.Itisrecommendedthatyoucompletethiscourse.HelpfulHintsYoumightbecomeanxiousasyourstartdatedrawsnear.Justrememberthatthisisnormal,andthatthefirstweekofschoolmightfeellikecultureshock.Afteracoupleofweeks,you'llassimilateschooltoyourdailyscheduleandeverythingwillbegintofeelnormal.
