Meet ASTA’s Business Development Team
Here’s What Our Biggest Fans Have to Say About ASTA
“As ASTA Chairman and President of Safe Harbors Business Travel (corporate TMC), ASTA provides great
value with Advocacy and Consumer Awareness efforts but my company also stresses the importance of
working with ASTA Partners. There is no better time than now to be part of the ASTA family.” Jay M.
Ellenby, ASTA Chairman and President of Safe Harbors Business Travel
“As Chairman of the Signature Board of Directions and ASTA member for 19 years (the last 8 years as
ASTA premium member), I know firsthand the value that ASTA has provided to me, my agency and all of
the Signature Travel Network. The education and advocacy work that ASTA does on behalf of our
industry allows ALL of us to remain strong and relevant. It is more imperative than ever to have a strong
and reliable voice in Washington. ASTA is that voice! ASTA is the only voice our industry has!” Eric
Maryanov, President of All-Travel
“ASTA membership is one of the biggest bangs for the buck you can get. For a modest annual
membership cost, we get advocacy on the federal, state and local level. This year alone ASTA helped
defeat a disastrous, misconceived services tax in Ohio that would have cost Ohio agencies 10’s of
thousands of dollars per year in new taxes. In addition, for our membership, we get an incredible
consumer awareness campaign including qualified customer leads from Travel sense. Dave Hershberger,
President of Prestige Travel Inc.

“WOW! It is tremendous to see both the significant and incremental changes occurring at all levels of
ASTA. Under the leadership of Zane Kerby, the ASTA Board, current Chair Jay Ellenby, former Chair
Roger Block, and with the guiding influence of each ASTA member, now ALL travel industry stakeholders
recognize the need for this strong association, and understand the importance of speaking in a unified
voice. Events like the Capitol Summit, Legislative Day and the Premium Business Summit are unique
face-to-face opportunities to network, solidify business relationships, and serve as a resource for
educating our government officials.
As a network, the message is clear: All can benefit from being a part of ASTA, from privately held leisure
agencies to corporate TMCs, major consortia, IC hosts and cruise platforms, not to mention our Proud
Partners and Supplier Members covering each area of the industry, from the GDS and other technology
partners, to cruise lines, major hotel brands, insurance companies, airlines and many other supplier
businesses. I am proud to be a member of ASTA, and thrilled to be an active leader in our travel
industry.” Jennifer Wilson-Buttigieg, Co-Owner & Co-President, Valerie Wilson Travel
“The independent contractor sector is the fastest growing sector of the travel business. With incentives
for home based agents to join ASTA through their membership at NACTA, the support of large host
agencies encouraging IC's to join and through agents seeing and hearing about ASTA in the travel news
community, ASTA is growing in leaps and bounds.
ASTA suppliers have a great opportunity to get in front of thousands of agents nationally and
internationally. The value you receive by becoming a member can't be under estimated. By presenting
your product at local ASTA meetings, sponsoring webinars or attending one of ASTA's conventions, you'll
" be found" by thousands of agents at a low cost.” Helen Prochilo, Owner, Promal Vacations

Who Is ASTA
Our Mission−ASTA's (American Society of Travel Agents) mission is to facilitate the business of selling
travel through effective representation, shared knowledge and the enhancement of professionalism.
ASTA −ASTA is the world's largest association of travel professionals. ASTA seeks a retail travel
marketplace that is profitable, growing and a rewarding place to work, invest and do business. Founded
in 1931 as the American Steamship and Tourist Agents' Association, ASTA and its affiliates now comprise
the world's largest and most influential travel trade association with members in 140 countries. As the
world's largest travel trade association, our work encompasses every aspect of the travel experience.
Having been around for over 86 years, we have been with the industry through ups and downs. Through
growth and consolidation. We have continued to adapt to the ever-changing climate by modifying our
membership structure to meet the needs of the industry.
ASTA is the nerve center for the travel agency industry

Targeted Groups within ASTA Membership
ASTA Leadership
ASTA Board of Directors - ASTA is governed by a national Board of Directors elected by the ASTA
Membership. Our board members represent some of the largest, most powerful agencies in the
country and have vast knowledge and insight that make them the perfect candidates to lead our
association.
ASTA Chapter Presidents Council - Chapters deliver ASTA’s mission and message on the local
level. Chapter Presidents are the lifeline to a successful chapter, engaged membership and a
valuable and essential connection to ASTA Board of Directors. Presenting your brand to these
leaders means sharing your brand with thousands of members back in their chapters.
ASTA Corporate Advisory Council (CAC) Members - An elite 45-person group within ASTA comprised of
the heads of the largest travel agency/TMC, consortia, franchise organization, host agency and ASTA
supplier members. The CAC was formed to give a distinct voice to these large entities and to provide a
support system for ASTA’s federal and state advocacy efforts, the foundation of ASTA’s mission. To
participate in this Council, agencies must maintain a Premium Membership with ASTA and have annual
sales of $50 million+ making this group one of the most profitable and successful within our network.
ASTA Premium Member Companies -
Premium Members represent the very largest
and most successful agencies within ASTA. In
order to be a part of the Premium
Membership Program, agencies must
maintain an annual sales volume of $50 million+ or may opt into the program by paying premium
membership dues. Our premium members represent $90 billion in travel sales each year.
ASTA’s Core Membership - Our Core membership makes our grassroots advocacy efforts possible. This
segment of membership represents our brick and mortar, traditional travel agencies with 3+ employees.
They also represent the largest segment of membership with over 4k of our members in this category.
Independent Contractors - The fastest growing segment of ASTA’s membership in recent years. As the
industry continues to transition and change we have found that more agents identify as IC’s. This group
is particularly important for you to connect with as most of them do not have a traditional office and
are, therefore, very hard to reach.
ASTA Young Professionals Society (YPS) - YPS is a place for agents under 40 to network, learn, and grow
in their careers. YPS is where young travel professionals gather to learn about the industry and make
connections with experienced peers who can act as mentors.

each year and develop personal relationships with the agents in their community.
To Increase Brand Recognition & Credibility
ASTA Logo - The ASTA logo has been a statement of credibility and stability for over 86 years. While the
look of it has changed over the years, the message behind it has not. One of the most valued benefits of

show the agency community that you are not only a credible company to work with but one who
supports their industry and trade association.

Member Directory on ASTA.org. This directory is the first place our agency members go when looking for
a new, credible supplier to work with. All you have to do is update the profile with your company’s
information and wait for the leads to come direct to your inbox.
Recognition in ASTA Travel Advisor Magazine - ASTA Travel Advisor Magazine is ASTA’s quarterly print
publication that is delivered to our members, distributed at numerous industry events and digitally. It is
read religiously by our members and consistently ranked one of their favorite member benefits. Your
company will be recognized as an ASTA Member Supplier in every single issue that is produced.
To Maintain an Informed & Educated Team

many decades. We collect, collate and analyze data that is not available anywhere else on agency
operations from agency model to revenue sources. Our data can be used to pinpoint agency trends,
compare and contrast agency operations, and develop marketing tactics. You will receive access to
Executive Summaries of our Annual Benchmarking Reports.
