The committee includes representatives from the City of Swan, Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), Department of Parks and Wildlife (DPaW), Whiteman Park and volunteer bushfire brigade services. Meetings are held each quarter at the Midland Town Hall from 6pm to 8.30pm and members of the public are welcome to attend. The City would like to inform residents that they must ensure that any material placed on verges complies with the conditions of the scheduled collection. Some of the things you can do include trimming trees, cleaning gutters, securing loose objects around your home and developing an emergency kit. For more information on how to prepare for, respond to and recover from severe storms visit the Department of Fire and Emergency Services website at www.dfes.wa.gov.au There’s always time to get fit City of Swan leisure centres offer a range of group and aqua fitness classes throughout the day to suit your needs. For early risers, Swan Park fitness classes start at 6am and there are plenty of after work sessions to choose from at all our centres. For mums and dads there are classes that start after school drop off, with crèche available for any younger kids. Learn how to understand your electricity bill (bring one or two along on the day) and discover alternative ways to heat and cool and inexpensive hardware that will reduce your energy and water bills. Then the Blokes Bus may be the ideal getaway solution for you! The Blokes Bus is available every second Wednesday of the month and offers eligible male clients a monthly outing to an interesting venue combined with a lunch experience. The comfortable community bus provides transport to and from home for only $9, exclusive of lunch and any entry costs to venues.
