The City of Swan Bushfi re Advisory Committee (BFAC) brings various government and non-government organisations together to plan and manage the risk of fi re, such as, fi re prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.The committee includes representatives from the City of Swan, Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), Department of Parks and Wildlife (DPaW), Whiteman Park and volunteer bushfi re brigade services.

Meetings are held each quarter at the Midland Town Hall from 6pm to 8.30pm and members of the public are welcome to attend. The meetings will take place this year on:

Bulk Green Waste CollectionIt’s that time of year when bulk green waste will be collected from verges in and around the City of Swan.The City would like to inform residents that they must ensure that any material placed on verges complies with the conditions of the scheduled collection.

Preparing for storm seasonStorm season is upon us and the best way to protect yourself and your family is by being prepared.

Storms can damage homes, property and businesses as well as be a considerable threat to people, animals and the environment.

Some of the things you can do include trimming trees, cleaning gutters, securing loose objects around your home and developing an emergency kit.

City of Swan leisure centres offer a range of group and aqua fi tness classes throughout the day to suit your needs.

For early risers, Swan Park fi tness classes start at 6am and there are plenty of after work sessions to choose from at all our centres.

For mums and dads there are classes that start after school drop off, with crèche available for any younger kids.

The Blokes Bus is available every second Wednesday of the month and offers eligible male clients a monthly outing to an interesting venue combined with a lunch experience.

The comfortable community bus provides transport to and from home for only $9, exclusive of lunch and any entry costs to venues.

This includes not placing more than three cubic metres of green waste on the verge and not placing materials under power lines, trees or up against fences or light poles. Residents are also urged not to place material on or around water meters as it will not be collected.
