Hello

Your supporters can make fundraising pages without leaving your charity’s website, when you use our page-creation API.

It connects your charity’s website with JustGiving.com, allowing them to talk to each other in real time and share information instantly.

The page-creation API is one of the many JustGiving integrations that enable your charity to embed world-class online fundraising technology into your website.

SeamlessYour supporters experience a seamless journey. They can sign up for an event and create a JustGiving page in just a few clicks.

Raise moreIt’s easier for your supporters to create a JustGiving page, so you’ll get more people raising money online for your charity.

EfficientThere’s no need to chase your event participants to create a JustGiving page. It’s all done in your registration process.

“For the 2011 events there’s been a 50% increase of entrants creating fundraising pages.” Joanne Warner Senior manager Cancer Research UK

Here are a few of the charities already using the page-creation API:

John visits your charity’s website and chooses to participate in the Edinburgh Marathon as part of your running team.

He pays an event-registration fee, sets a fundraising target and tells you he is raising money in memory of his sister.

At the end of the event registration, John is automatically prompted to create a fundraising page on JustGiving.

It’s pre-populated with the information he gave when he registered, so he doesn’t have to waste time entering his details again.

Your charity receives all the data he has submitted, against the appropriate custom codes in your JustGiving reports.

This means you get the full picture of his fundraising (his event, his target and why he is fundraising for your charity). So you can allocate income appropriately.

It’s easier for your supporters to create a JustGiving page, so you’ll get more people raising money online for your charity.

And you don’t have to worry about chasing them to create a JustGiving page. It’s already done in your registration process.

The page is also personalised with content your charity has provided, like your brand colours, images and video.

You can control your charity’s branding on any fundraising pages created via the page-creation API.

This means visitors to these pages can view your messages and have a consistent experience of your brand.

John tells all his friends about your event and his fundraising. They donate to his page and leave messages of support.

You can download a report in your JustGiving account showing the details of the donations, or set up an automatic feed into your fundraising database.

We automatically transfer the donations to your charity and reclaim Gift Aid on your behalf.

How it works for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSHCC)

Runners who have already secured a place for an event, such as the London marathon, come to the GOSHCC website to find out how they can fundraise for the charity.

They submit their details, including their size for a free running vest, and whether they are running for one of GOSHCC’s corporate partners.

They select the event they have a place for, say how much they are hoping to raise and why they are supporting GOSHCC.

They are automatically asked to start fundraising by creating a page on JustGiving. The page is pre-populated with their information and GOSHCC branding.

Is the page-creation API right for your charity?

Here are a few things to consider:

Your technical know-how

Implementing APIs is best left to the experts. If you’re not a programmer or developer, and there’s not one at your charity, we recommend working with an agency.

Your timeline

In some cases charities havebeen able to integrate ourpage-creation API in just fourweeks, but we recommendscheduling two to six monthsfrom planning through toimplementation. If you’reworking to a tight deadline, get in touch and we candiscuss your options.

Your website

Does your charity’s website have a CMS (content management system) that can integrate APIs? Do you have an online form that enables people to sign up for an event via your website? If you’re not sure, put us in touch with your web team and we will happily chat to them about it.

Your budget

It’s free to access and use JustGiving APIs. If you decide to work with an agency you’ll need to allocate budget for their involvement in the project. The cost will depend on the level of integration and sophistication you’re hoping to achieve. Any of the agencies mentioned here can provide you with a quote.

Your people

Consider all the teams in your organisation that need to help you create your vision, as well as help you achieve it. It’s really important they feel part of the process and can commit the time to helping you with the project.

In our experience the sooner you can involve all the key stakeholders, the better. Every charity is structured slightly differently, but we recommend involving people from the following departments: data, supporter care, digital, marketing, events, fundraising.

You might want to consider making someone at your charity the project manager. They can be the central point of contact for all the key stakeholders, understand their requirements and keep everyone working to the timeline.

Here are a few agencies charities have worked with to implement our APIs:
