ello to all Homeowners and Residents.

I must say we have been lucky up till now with the winter weather but as I sit and write this report it is expected to snow on the Drakensburg so it looks like we will be in for a very cold week.

The tenders for Security and Garden Services have been finalized. After a thorough evaluation done by Craig (Security) and Andrew (Gardens) the proposals were put forward to the directors and it was decided to remain with both our service providers.

It seems to fall on deaf ears but residents need to please adhere to the restrictions of no watering/hosing between 6am – 6pm. The roaming guards continue to report that people are washing driveways with hosepipes.

Once again a big thank you to the residents that have responded to our call to get there levies up to date. We continue to see an improvement in the outstanding levies.

The erection of the cellphone Vodacom light poles within the Estate is on track.

We are reaching the end of our fibre to the home roll-out that has been live since December 2015. To take advantage of the zero installation fee please visit Rose at the Estate office for the forms and contact details of the Vodacom representative. This promotion will be ending as of 31 August 2016. Thereafter the installation fee of R799 will apply as the teams will no longer be on site. A reminder of the new packages that were offered to our residents: • R599 – 10 Mpbs – 100 GB• R799 – 20 Mbps – 300 GB• R1199 – 40 Mbps – 1 TB • R1799 – 100 Mbps – 2 TB

FROM THE ESTATE MANAGER

ello to all Bushwillow residents.

Vodacom has done various site visits for the power to the masts in the recent pasy and work on the footings is in progress.

The home within Bushwillow that burnt down earlier in the year will be rebuilt soon.

Pro Vision are reinstating the paving on the sidewalks and neatening our estate back to the existing condition it was in before they started the fiber for Foundersview.

The garden service is also working on the islands outside of the estate. Paving is being done at the front gate, and after this has been completed we will be planting flowers.

Other maintenance currently ongoin g in and around the estate includes: painting the woodwork within the estate and painting the gates at the main entrance and contrac-tor’s gate. We have also erected light poles around the estate.

I would personally like to thank all residents of Bushwillow Park Estate for the generous donations to the Edenvale SPCA and non-perishable food items to the garden and security staff for Nelson Mandela Day.

o all home owners. We have noticed that awnings and air condi-tioner and heat exchangers are being installed without approval and not indicated on the copies of your plans in our estate files.

In Architectural Guidelines Rules 2.4 louvre awnings, awnings, TV aerials, blinds and other items which do not form part of the basic

structure should be clearly shown and annotated on approval drawings. This re-quirement needs to be adhered to after the completion period, should addition be made, and in the House Rules 4.8 Air conditioners, heat exchangers must not be visible and should be installed below the boundary wall or in the roof. Screening of air conditioners must be approved by the HOA.

Please note that louvered awnings and rollup blinds are also not approved and don’t show on copies of your plans in our estate files. This is also in the Architectural Guide-lines Rules 2.4 louvre awnings, awnings, TV aerials, blinds and other items, which do not form part of the basic struc-ture, should be clearly shown and annotated on approval drawings.

This requirement needs to be adhered to after the completion period, should addition be made, and 2.40 All weather blinds can be used once the sample has been forwarded to the ARC for approval.

Any alterations to your homes need to be approved by the ARC and noted on your plans file. This includes closing of patios with sliding or stacking doors, as this alters your floor ratio.

All external finishes and colours shall be specified and submitted to the ARC for prior approval, this includes house colours, both for initial plan approval and any proposed changes thereto at any time after completion. This is mentioned in the Architectural Guidelines Rules 2.3

Please submit all alterations to HOA to keep files up to date.

ater is life. For millions for years life on earth has been dependant on water for survival. When Neil Armstrong landed on the moon in 1969 he described Planet Earth as “a shining blue pearl spinning in space”. The blue colour is, in fact, the amount of water that is present on the surface. 70% of the earth’s surface is covered with water but of this, approximately 97% is salt water, with the remaining 3% being fresh

water. Of this 3%, less than 1% is available for life on earth, whilst the rest is in the form of ice at the poles.

We need to adapt our gardening lifestyles and habits to make the most of our scarce water resources, as in the long run it is our gardens and us the gardeners who will suffer when there isn’t enough water to cater for this lifestyle and for these demands. These include:• Garden design – Zoning your garden into high, medium and low water use areas, which can include container planting.• Re-using runoff rainwater.• Mulching.- Placing the right plants in the right zone.- Replacing invasive alien plants with indigenous alternatives.- Minimising lawn area, or training the lawn to need less water.- Making irrigation systems water effi-cient.• Watering schedule – Applying the correct amounts of water, at the right time, not over-watering and turning off water when it is not needed. Remember the water restrictions which are in place between 6am-6pm and please adhere to them.• Choosing water features that don’t waste water.
