This is an opportunity to gain your first experience of working with a campaigning charity and is open to members of CRAE’s Young Activists Network. The young advisers will be contributing directly to CRAE’s current work programme. Tasks will be undertaken by each young adviser individually or by both young advisers working together depending on what is felt to be most effective and practicable. Tasks will include working to ensure that new and specific project website pages and materials are designed to ensure the maximum engagement with young people and, as a separate task, working to help promote updated web- based resources across a wide range of organisations in contact with children and young people. In addition, there will be a role for young advisers to help CRAE in preparation for a young activists’ event to be held later in 2011 (to which the young advisers would be invited). You will be able to learn or improve your skills in using different media to communicate and engage others and to develop your knowledge of participation, event and project planning and equality issues. You will have the opportunity to develop writing and creative design skills as well. You will be expected to help with other CRAE work where appropriate and to write short articles about your experience as a young adviser (for CRAE’s website and the Young Activists Network children’s rights bulletin). You will also undertake an evaluation exercise to help CRAE to improve the young adviser role in future.
