Young Frankenstein, the Musical

The new Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder Musical: “Young Frankenstein” is based on the 1974 comedy film, Young Frankenstein. This humorous production was a parody of the horror film genre. “Young Frankenstein, the Musical” opened on Broadway in 2007 and was awarded the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical.

Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (played by Jacob Neff) inherits a castle in Transylvania leading him to fulfill his grandfather's (played by Kirk Haack) legacy by bringing a corpse back to life. With help and hindrance from hunchback henchman Igor (played by Don Joyce), buxom assistant Inga (Jamie Neff), housekeeper Frau Blucher, (Cynthia Berkland), and needy fiancée Elizabeth (Denise Haack), his experiment yields madcap success creating a Monster!

Chaos and hilarity ensue when the Monster escapes, with village characters, Inspector Kemp (Andy Stolley), Ziggy (Tim Powers), and Harold (George Van Meter) trying to catch him. Other villagers are played by Joe Veltrie, Anna Veltrie, Diane Benjamin, Amelia Ort, Raylene Poeppe, Jonah Morlock, Peter Morlock, Rick Jones, Lori Flynn and Kristen Davis. After Frederick captures the Monster, he performs a “brain transference,” which saves both Frederick and the Monster.

MSCT directors for “Young Frankenstein” are Jackie Van Oosbree and Peggy Stolley, Denise Haack and Diane Benjamin.

All seats are $10. There will be no reserved seating.

The doors open one hour prior to each performance

All tickets $10 and go on sale one hour before curtain.

Production is held at the Performance Center at 19th and Lake St., Emmetsburg.
