Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) – August 1992 to Date
Alan has gained considerable Consulting Practice, Operations, and Program/Project Management experience in over 20 years
of service with CSC in the U.S.and U.K. During this time he has opened three new Business Units, both helping to grow the
Company and providing him with many accelerated learning experiences. Alan’s particular area of strength is in building
strong teams through effective recruiting, mentoring, and professional development management. He has also considerable
experience with financial management and managing client relationships.
Project Executive, Large Mobile and Broad Band & TV Service Provider – CSC Denmark Responsible for the delivery of all Application Delivery projects for a major client in the Nordic Region. Provides support to
onshore, offshore and near-shore Project Managers, managing escalation issues and reporting status to the client. Works both
internally and with the Client to improve delivery processes.
Program Manager, Danish Government Ministry – CSC Denmark Turn-around Program Manager for an SAP implementation for a Danish Government Ministry. The program was a major
component of a System Modernization Program. The objective of the program was to replace older systems with an
application based on the SAP Public Sector Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable (PSCD) module. The system went
live successfully on September 1, 2013.
Project Manager, Design of IT for Greenfield Hospital – CSC Health Care Services Group Project Manager for a Healthcare consortium building a hospital in the Middle East. Responsible for managing the software
selection and design of the Hospital IT systems and Infrastructure.
Operations Manager, Health Delivery North America – CSC Health Care Services Group Operations Manager for CSC’s Health Delivery Business Unit. Responsible for day to day management and strategic
direction for the Business Unit operations. Activities included: analyzing performance metrics and collaborating regularly
with Solution and Practice staff to formulate improvement recommendations that reduce cost, increase revenue and enhance
productivity; monitoring Accounts Receivables/Unbilled items and take appropriate action to facilitate cash collection and
meet days sales outstanding goals; managing day to day Operations’ processes including timesheet and expense hygiene,
staffing, timely project setup and inter-office and subcontractor engagement; developing and monitoring standard business
processes to ensure consistency and efficiency across Solutions and Practices. Identify operating issues, formulate solutions,
and manage to resolution when appropriate; guiding Solution and Practice teams through the recruiting cycle process; and
contribute to the Business Unit annual business plans that detail solutions, investments and ROI commitment.
Staffing Manager, GHS Payor/Provider for North America – CSC Global Health Solutions Staffing Manager for CSC’s Global Health Solutions Payor and Provider Practice. Responsible for day to day staffing of the
Practices staff in the Healthcare Provider and Payor industries. Worked with the Solution Leads, Business Developers and
Project Managers to develop staffing strategies, and build delivery teams to meet the clients and CSC Health Practice goals.
Coordinated the acquisition and use of offshore resources in India and Vietnam to support the delivery of payor and provider
projects.
Account Manager, Southern California – CSC Consulting Group Account Manager for CSC Consulting in Southern California. Responsible for business development and client relationship
management for 3 key accounts. Worked at client sites managing client expectations and project delivery, while providing
the internal administrative support on project set-up, financials and project status reporting.
Business Manager, West Region – CSC Consulting Group Operations Manager for the West Region of CSC Consulting. Responsible for setting the strategy and managing the
organization day to day. Activities included recruiting, staffing, development and learning, delivery management and
financial management. He was also responsible for working with the vertical market practices to both set the solution strategy
and set and manage demand capacity.
Managing Director, Seattle Business Unit – CSC Consulting Group First manager for the Seattle Business Unit, managing its establishment and its first year of operation. Overall P&L Manager
with Practice responsibilities for sales, marketing, and account management. Operational roles covered included recruiting,
staffing, delivery assurance, professional development management, human resources, and financial management.
During this time Alan worked as the Account/Project Manager on several .com projects.
Operations Manager, Global Baan Practice (Americas) – CSC Consulting Group First operations manager for the CSC Global Baan Practice in North America, responsible for the establishment and first full
year of operation. Operational roles included recruiting, staffing, delivery assurance, professional development management,
human resources and practice financial management. Other activities included providing input to the practice strategy and
alliance management.
Operations Manager, Los Angeles Business Unit – CSC Consulting Group First Operations Manager for CSC's Los Angeles Office and was involved with its establishment and its first year of
operation. Operational roles included recruiting, staffing, delivery assurance, professional development management, human
resources, and practice financial management.
Delivery Assurance Manager, San Francisco Business Unit – CSC Consulting Group Delivery Assurance Manager for the San Francisco business unit. In addition to the usual functions of a delivery assurance
manager, he was also responsible for consultant staffing and business unit accounting.
UK Projects Control Manager - CSC UK Division Project Control Manager, responsible for delivery assurance for CSC’s European projects. The focus was on reviewing,
tracking and reporting on project status and profitability to the Head of Projects, Operations Director and the UK Division
Board. Monitored and reported on the commercial aspects of projects, tracked project status on a monthly basis and reported
to senior management, proactively reviewing projects and ensuring systems and processes were in place to supply the
management information needed to run the various operations. Achievements included development of an integrated project
tracking and resourcing system, introduction of proactive tracking and support 50 UK Division projects, management of the
development and roll-out of the UK Division Project Manager's Toolkit, and establishment of project accounting and project
profitability management.
Program Office Manager – CSC UK Division Program Office Manager for a £32 million, 3 year program. Established and managed the program office for a
communications company. Major achievements included set-up, planning and monitoring of the major phases of the
program, establishment of project infrastructure, including: accommodation for 150 staff, purchase of hardware,
establishment of program standards and procedures, and execution of day-to-day program control and support processes with
a staff of five.
Andersen Consulting
Head of Network Management Following the outsourcing of the London Stock Exchange IT Department to Andersen Consulting Alan was responsible for
the management and control of a stock exchange's live network systems. Achievements included developing and
implementing the reorganization of the live network operation, enabling staff to be re-assigned to work on strategic
developments, managing the transfer of engineering records from stand-alone databases to a central records database and
initiated a review of stock handling and asset management, procedures resulting in a more effective and efficient service to
customers.
London Stock Exchange
Manager, Customer Services Group Responsible for coordinating the provision of all stock exchange information, trading and settlement services. Achievements
included managing a major initiative to reduce the number of customer orders outside of the agreed "required for service
date" from over 1500 to less than 50 within 4 months, establishing new system requirements and document control
procedures to ensure the backlog situation did not re-occur and project managed the reduction of telephone and data circuits
for which the Stock Exchange was paying but not using.
Manager, Systems Development Responsible for day-to-day operations of the stock exchange's Services Development Department with respect to project
planning, accounting, accommodation, and equipment. Worked with the IT Director to undertake a number of projects
designed to reduce costs and increase output. Other achievements included establishing a project-based rolling budget for IT
developments managing the relocation of staff from 5 buildings into one, and re-allocating total resources while ensuring all
projects met scheduled deadlines.
