You Never Mentioned Him to Me

“When in the better land before the bar we stand, how deeply grieved our souls may be; If any lost one there should cry in

deep despair, ‘You never mentioned Him to me.’”

Luke 14:18–20 (NKJV)

18 But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I

must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’ 19 And another said, ‘I have

bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me

excused.’ 20 Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot

come.’

24 For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my

supper.’ ”

Why don’t we evangelize?(Will these excuses work with God?)

Excuse: “I just can’t do it.”

doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every

good work.


Excuse: “I don’t know how to do it.”

Ephesians 4:11–12 (NKJV) 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some

evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,

Hebrews 5:12–14 (NKJV) 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have

come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised

to discern both good and evil.


Excuse: “I don’t know enough about the Bible.”

Excuse: “I’m afraid…”

Excuse: “I tried it and didn’t get anywhere.”

Titus 3:8 (NKJV) 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm

constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

Let’s do away with making excuses!
