Erina High School Orientation and Parent Information Evening

A reminder that for the students who will attend Erina High School in 2011 there will be an Ori‐entation Day this Thursday 2nd December from 9:00am to 2:45pm.  In the evening an informa‐tion session has been organised for parents and carers. I urge families to send along a repre‐sentative to this most informative evening to learn what Erina High School can offer your child.

team effort” with all staff on deck and parents too! I know Mrs Denning was still counting money late into the afternoon and I believe a near record amount of over $2 000 was raised on the day. According to Mr Francis, nearly one third of that came from  the chocolate wheel which just happened to be his activity again this year. The money raised will go towards a Year 6 gift to the school.

Well done everyone!

Camp Quality Calendar

Thank you to the parents who have ordered a 2011 Camp Quality calendar. These calendars will be for sale for $12 each and an order form is included with this edition of the newsletter. I urge you to support this most worthwhile cause. Simply complete the order form and return it to the office in the envelope provided with the correct money. Not only does it include the fabulous artwork of three of our talented students, Indie and Jake and Ebony but as we know Camp Quality is such a great charity to support as it provides fantastic support for children (and their families) who are battling cancer.

 Headstart Graduation

The HEADSTART Graduation Ceremony which was held in the school hall last Wednesday didn’t disappoint. Again Nada, Lisa, Mrs Auinger and their fabulous helpers ensured a special occasion for each of our new 2011 kindergarten students and their many  family members who were present. Thank you to all who assisted for your hard work!

Remember...if you know of a family who has an eligible child for kindergarten next year and they are not yet enrolled it is important that they inform us. Currently, we are very close to establishing a second kindergarten class for 2011 and it is dependant on the number of students we have for next year. The sooner we know how many classes we can establish the smoother our start to the year will be.

This Week’s Events

As the year rapidly moves ahead I especially look forward to the opportunities to recognise special efforts and achievements. This week we will acknowledge students who have achieved at a high standard and/or made im‐pressive application to areas of the school curriculum. This will be at the KLA Award Assembly on Friday starting at 9:15am  in the Hall.

Also on Friday, at 11am in the school hall our staff will host the Helpers Morning Tea. This is a small way for the staff to acknowledge the combined contributions that add so much to our normal school programs. If you have assisted the school in any way throughout 2010 we would love to see you there!

HELPERS REQUIRED FOR BEAUT BEHAVIOUR BBQ (Repeat)

It’s on again! The Principal’s Beaut Behaviour BBQ will be held on Tuesday 7th December. Students should  re‐ceive one of two types of invitation to attend the BBQ. One will commend students for their excellent consis‐tent behaviour. The other will state we acknowledge their efforts to improve their behaviour. Again, this year, the vast majority of students have consistently demonstrated our core values of: ACCEPTANCE, ACHIEVEMENT, COMMITMENT, INTEGRITY and RESPECT.  And most importantly, teachers have been able to consistently pro‐vide learning opportunities within their teaching and learning program rather than behaviour management.

Erina Fair Christmas Tree Chertsey has once again entered the Erina Fair Christmas Tree Decorating competition. All students made gum-leaf decorations and wrote Christmas Promises on them. Some classes also made a selection of Australian animals and coloured gumnuts. Mr Anderson and I took four members of the SRC to Erina Fair yesterday to decorate the tree. Members of the public and families are able to vote for their favourite tree by making a gold coin donation. Five winners will receive an Erina Fair gift voucher for $300. Don’t forget to vote next time you are doing your Christmas shopping. The trees are outside Kmart. Thank you to Chantelle, Keenan, Dylan, and Kyra for their fabulous tree decorating skills. Dear Multiplication Masters and Home Work Club Members

Movie and Pizza Afternoon

To celebrate the hard work and achievements throughout the year we would like to invite you to a special pizza and movie afternoon. This will be held on Wednesday the 8th of December at Lunch 2 in the computer lab. Your child is welcome to being a special treat to eat during the movie however due to others with allergies it is requested that no nut products be brought to school. Cordial and fresh water will supplied. Well done and a big thank you for all your support throughout the year. Regards Lisa Seaman Parent Project Officer

ACTIVE AFTER SCHOOL COMMUNITIES

This is the final week for AASC for 2010. Thank you to everyone for attending and helping to make Chertsey's AASC the nominated super site for the entire Central Coast, we now go into the state finals. This of course would not have been achievable without the help of so many wonderful people. So thank you to the students, parents, staff (especially Mrs Hynes, Mrs Palmer, Ms Daley and Miss Wiseman), Tania (our Jack - of -all-trades), CHOOSH, our community deliverer, Aaron and of course Mr Anderson, who allows me to make the choices regarding AASC. Some of the children have been extremely lucky this term as they have been sailing at Gosford Waterfront. These children were chosen for several reasons, however the main criteria being they regularly at-tended AASC, were committed to the program, could swim, were reliable and have beaut behaviour. My plans are to have sailing again next year, so if your child is interested, they need to follow the crite-ria. Next weeks newsletter will have some feed back from the children. I have some activities already in the pipeline for next year. These include, gymnastics, cycling, fitness, soccer, taekwondo, hip-hop and much more. Next week we will be having our annual end of year party.

This will probably be Wednesday lunchtime in the hall, with a disco and party food. Details will be sent our as soon as I can confirm this date.

Again thanks to everyone involved and I look forward to seeing you again in 2011.

Numeracy at Home Resources

Dear Parent/Carers, As the year is coming to an end we are asking that all Numeracy packs are returned to the class teacher by Monday the 6th of December. As the kits are shared by the whole class/school it is essential all kits are returned by this date so we can replace any missing pieces or repair any broken ones ready for next year. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter Lisa Seaman Parent Project Officer
