Unfortunately due to unforeseen developments the re-opening of Elyria Elks Lodge 465 has been rescheduled to Monday June 15 th . The Lodge Officers, Trustees and dedicated member volunteers have worked hard to implement the State of Ohio’s social distancing guidelines and cleanliness protocols. They are being put in place to protect our employees, members and their guests. They will be posted throughout the Lodge and will be enforced. Anyone choosing to ignore them will be asked to leave the Lodge. However, due to the complicated nature of the guidelines the Lodge leadership feels that we are not in a position to meet the original target date of June 1st. Changes of note are as follows: • Entrance and exit to the Lodge will be through the Second Street entrance only • Until further notice members do not have to be present to win the weekly drawing if they are signed up and their name is drawn. • Smoking will not be permitted on the front porch area of the Second Street entrance. ○ New smoking areas will be established in the parking lot. • Restroom occupancy will be limited to one person at a time. Temporary locks have been added to the restroom doors to help manage this. In partnership with the Elyria American Legion Post we will participate in our annual Flag Day Ceremony on Sunday June 14 th starting at 1:00 p.m. At this writing the venue has not been determined. We hope to be able to conduct the ceremony in the downtown square across from Elyria City Hall. If this site is not available the ceremony will be held in the parking lot of the American Legion located on the corner of Gulf Road and Ohio Street. Once a decision is made the location will be posted to our Facebook page and website at https://elyriaelks.com We should all be grateful to our members that have worked hard behind the scenes to prepare the Lodge for our June 15 th re-opening. They exemplify what it means to be an Elk. I would like to list them by name but am fearful that I would inadvertently miss someone. You all know who you are and know that you have my deepest gratitude and respect. In closing, we need everyone’s support and cooperation to comply with the social distancing guidelines that have been put in place so that this work for all of us. Thank you in advance for your understanding and support! Until then, stay safe, look out for family, friends and neighbors and know that you all remain in my thoughts and prayers.
