Surgery and inpatient admissions are covered under a fixed indemnity payment of a specific dollar amount for each surgery or inpatient confinement subject to certain limitations. The MEC Value Plan reimburses your health care providers using a specific percentage above the Medicare allowable reimbursement for each service. These plans are often called “Medicare plus” because they pay more than Medicare. Please check with your doctors, specialists and hospitals before receiving care to see if they will accept the level of reimbursement shown on your health benefit ID card. You will not be responsible for any balance billing from providers who might not accept the reimbursement levels of your plan.
