“You Are The Man!”Tried to Cover His Sins, Sinfully

Chapter 11 tells the things David did to try to cover the sin of adultery.

David seemed to forget that sin will be made known (Num. 32:23; 1 Tim. 4:2).

Even if we keep our sin from men, we cannot hide them from the Lord (Heb. 4:13).

“You Are The Man!”Tried to Cover His Sins, Sinfully

There is a proper way and improper ways to cover our sins (Ps. 32).

Improperly (As David tried):

Lying, cheating and committing other sins to

cover sin only pulls us away from God.Properly (Acts 22:16; 1 Jn. 1:9).

“You Are The Man!”Listened Without Making Personal ApplicationDavid saw the sin of the man in the story, but did

not see himself in the man.

We can listen to God’s Word in the same way David listened to Nathan.

“You Are The Man!”Listened Without Making Personal ApplicationWe must examine our lives (2 Cor. 13:5).

If we don’t apply lessons from the Bible, how can we know if we living a life pleasing to God?

None of us can take for granted we are alright, we must apply the Word to self!

“You Are The Man!”Was Not Properly Convicted of His Sins

“Sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.” (Rom. 7:13).

The Bible encourages, but it also reproves, rebukes and admonishes (2 Tim. 4:1-2; Acts 2:36).

Sin is terrible, it will cost you your soul!

God has provided the way to be free from the guilt of sin (Jas. 1:19-25).

It is not enough to know God’s will, you must obey it!

“You Are The Man!”Condemned Himself By His Own Words

Sin brings death and by his words, David showed his sin caused him to be worthy of death (Rom. 6:23).

Many have done as David did (Rom. 2:1-3 & 21-24)

We must be sure we are living as God commands or we will be condemned by our own words.

“You Are The Man!”David Was Not Living Right With God

When he was sinning, David was not a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22).

David’s sin separated him from God, as it does any man (Isa. 59:1; 1 Jn. 3:7 & 10)

The things David did greatly displeased the Lord (2 Sam. 11:27).

“You Are The Man!”David Was Not Living Right With God

After hearing Nathan, David was convicted of his sins and wanted to be right with God (2 Sam. 12:13).

If you have sin in your life, you are separated from God, but if you seek His forgiveness your sins can be cleansed.

“You Are The Man!”If you have unrepented sin in your life, you are in

danger of hell.

If you continue in them and try to cover them other than how the Bible teaches, you will be lost.

David realized he was wrong and made amends for his sinfulness.

If you are guilty, won’t you do the same?
