    Youth Orchestras of San Antonio to host 2nd

    Annual Beethoven 5K/10K

    Event to feature live musicians, appearance by Beethoven

    SAN ANTONIO (March 11, 2013) The Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA) will host its second

    annual Beethoven 5K/10K Walk and Run on Saturday, April 13. The fundraising event for the citys

    premier youth orchestras includes live music at the finish line by the Pop-Up Orchestra and an

    appearance by Beethoven himself!

    The family-fun event includes an IAAP chip-timed race on a scenic course that begins and ends

    at Central Market on Broadway in Alamo Heights. YOSAs Pop-Up Orchestra will play live as part of the

    post-race finale, including contemporary favorites like Call Me Maybe and YMCA. Presented in

    conjunction with Fleet Feet Sports, early registration is open now for $25 for the 5K and $35 for the 10K.

    (Fees increase by $5 after April 1).Register today to help support YOSAs musicians and programs here.

    Packets can be picked up at Fleet Feet Sportson Friday April 12, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Saturday

    morning race begins at 8 a.m., with registration at 7 a.m.

    Dont want to run or walk? You can still support YOSA virtually by registering for Breakfast with

    Beethoven. Your $35 donation gets you a T-shirt, mug with beverage mix on race day.

    As part of the fun of the event,Texas Public Radiohas scheduled a special program of

    Beethovens music during the race on their Classical music station, KPAC 88.3 FM. The program starts at

    8:00 a.m. and finishes at 10:00 a.m.

    The Youth Orchestras of San Antoniois the premier orchestral experience for youth citywide,

    with 368 musicians in 5 orchestras. The mission of YOSA is to enhance education, enrich the community

    and transform lives by pursuing excellence in classical music in a stimulating, nurturing and fun

    environment. The organization focuses on making music education accessible to all youth. YOSA serves

    more than 1,500 young musicians annually. It offers no cost music tuition and orchestral experience to

    young students in the YOSA MS program and works in partnership with the Roosevelt Compact

    Schools, offering comprehensive programs in 7 schools as well as clinics to more than 75 additional

    schools each year.
