Tena koutou katoa Enclosed is the “Mamaku Primary School Parent/Caregiver Survey 2017” . As part of our review cycle the BOT are sending the survey to each family to complete and return to the box in the office before the 30th of June. Students who return the completed survey will receive a special treat from the office. The survey results will help us make positive changes to our school and help us do
a better job for our students and community. If you have just arrived in the area and you have children, please be aware our school goes from New Entrants (5 years of age) to Year 8 (12-13 years of age). I would be more than happy to show you around the school at any time, or send out information regarding the school or you can just make contact with the office to organise a suitable time. Mamaku school would like to say a big welcome to our new students and families that have arrived at Mamaku. The Home and School (PTA) will be organising a social event at the school Hall on Thursday 15th of June from 5.30, everyone welcome.
Tomorrow we will be practising a “Lock Down Drill” at school as part of our emergency evacuation procedure and process. This is to practice if the students have to stay in the classroom if there is a danger outside the classroom, playground or in the community where the students need to stay put.
This Friday we start our “Kia Kaha - Stand tall” programme. Kia Kaha enables students to develop strategies for respectful relationships where bullying behaviours are not tolerated. We welcome Constable Neil who takes over from Constable Rob and will be helping us run the programme. There is a quick parent meeting about the Kia Kaha programme in the staffroom at 8.45 - 9.00 on Friday. For any parents/students who would like to know more about “Kia Kaha” please visit the website - http://www.police.govt.nz/advice/personal-and-community-advice/school-portal/resources/successful-relationships/kia-kaha
The community workers are here again on Saturday completing projects around the school and I would recommend that children are not around the school from 9 - 3pm. Ngā mihi nui Gary Veysi

Room One
Room One enjoyed the visit from Canopy Tours. We learnt lots of facts about trapping pests in the forest. We saw some traps and listened to Gary and Shannon talk.
We wrote stories, drew pictures and did some colouring in as part of our learning for the possum hunt. We also made some tree charms. We had to have patience. Thank you to our wonderful helpers. It was fun!
