8 How to Play

◆ There are some Yo-kai youcannot befriend.

◆ You can also befriend Yo-kai viaevents, quests, the Crank-a-kai(page 25), and the OniCrank-a-kai (page 12).

Explore Springdale and nearbyareas, and talk to the people youfind there. When you get in a battle,help your Yo-kai friends defeat theenemy.

12 Terror Time

◆ There are certain things you can'tdo while in Terror T ime. Forexample , you can' t use theYo-kai Pad or Yo-kai Lens.

When you' re out and about,sometimes you'll see a countdownclock begin out of nowhere. Whenyou see that timer, get ready! Whenit reaches zero, you'll enter...TerrorTime!

Once Terror Tistarts, the actiyou're able to taon the f iel d arestricted and Oni and his underlings will appear. Ifone of the Oni's underlings spotsyou, they will call to him and he willstart chasing you. If the Oni catchesyou, you'll fail to escape. Try tocollect as many Oni Orbs as you canand escape within the time limit!

During Terror Tiyou can f ind Orbs and varioothe r items tcan only be uswhile you're in Terror Time. Oni Orbsare kept until you escape, and theyare used on the Oni Crank-a-kai.

Items can be used at any time bypressing , but you can only holdone at a time. If you pick up anotheritem while already holding one, theold one will be thrown away.

If you touch a confrontational Yo-kaiwhile you're out and about, or if youuncover a Yo-kai while exploring inWatch Mode, a battle will begin.

20 Giving Orders to Yo-kai Friends

While you're in battle, you can giveyour Yo-kai friends commands usingthe Touch Screen. Once you haveprogressed past a certain point inthe game, Model Zero commandswill also become available.

This al lows you use a Yo-kai 'Soul t imate MovSelect a Yo-kai witfull Soul Meter, afollow the instructions on the TouchScreen. Once the gauge is full, yourYo-kai will unleash a Soult imateMove.

When the Yo-kai Watch is in ModelZero mode , the Soul t imatecommand changes to the M Skillcommand (M fo r Moximous) .M Skills are stronger than normalSoul t imate Moves, but t heyconsume three Soul Meters! TheSoul Meters of the Yo-kai using themove and both the Yo-kai on eitherside of it will all be used up, so useM Skills wisely.

33 Using the Yo-kai Cam

◆ When you take a photo, you'llhear a shutter noise even if theNintendo 3DS system's volume isse t to minimum or you haveheadphones in.

◆ Yo-kai that you photograph forthe first time will be recorded inthe Yo-kai Medallium.

You can take a picture by pressing// (or by touching Shoot onthe Touch Screen). The picture willbe saved to the SD Card.

Select Yo-kai Cam from the Yo-kaiPad to use the Nintendo  3DScamera to snap pictures of Yo-kaiwho are Inspiriting people!

Once the camera starts up, line upthe face of the person you want tophotograph with the guide on thetop screen. Press (or touch InnerCam o r Outer Cam) to switchbetween t he inne r and outercameras.
