Planning for next year

Kindy Start

Moving In

Hopefully we begin moving into our new building tomorrow. There will be quite a lot of movement and disruption to

learning over the next week as we move and settle in. We have planned our movements so that we don’t have to move

again and can start the 2011 school year as settled as possible.

Computer access will be limited too until classroom computers have been installed and reconfigured. Teachers have

completed reports and supervisors will be proofing them over the next 2 weeks, so there may be some delays in a few

individuals’ reports.

I’m sure the benefits of fantastic new learning spaces will

outweigh the short period of disruption.

Planning for next year

Next week teachers meet to plan classes and programs of work for 2011. I should be able to advise you of our proposed

staffing arrangements, class organisation and anticipated costs for 2011 by Week 9.

Teachers undertake a comprehensive process to develop class

composition including considering age, gender, friendship groups – both positive and negative combinations, learning

needs and strengths, previous combinations, shared class

considerations and other factors. If you have not taken the opportunity to provide us with information to make the best

choice for your child, please do so this week in writing to me as it will generally not be possible next year when classes are

established.

There will be some new faces on our teaching team in 2011.

Mrs Rose-Marie Houghton will be conducting our Reading Recovery program for the next two years, Mr Jon Elbra, Mrs

Bev Morris and Mrs Sue Jordan will be on leave for 2011, and Mr Dennis Jarmaine takes up his permanent position at Avoca

Beach PS. Although our staffing arrangements are subject to change in the first three weeks of the new school year, I

expect temporary teachers, Mrs Noelene Conacher, Miss Sarah Elbra, Miss Kerrie Dillenbeck and Mrs Wendy Matchett, to be

on our teaching team again. I also welcome new team members, Mrs Lisa Wicks and Mr Brett Smith, to Kincumber

Public School. At this stage, Lisa will be working on Early Stage One and Brett will be sharing a class with Mrs Karen

Wardlaw.

Although I anticipate this team composition, it is subject to

change early in the new year.

When I am older I want to be a teacher because I love working with little kids and you also get all the school holidays off. When I am a teacher I want to work at a primary school because in high school the teenagers don’t treat you as well and that is what I want to be and why. Phoebe

When I grow up I want to be an AFL player. Why? Because AFL is the most popular sport in Australia. This year there were two finalists—Collingwood and St Kilda, the first final was a draw so they did another game and Collingwood won the score 56-109. I want to play for Collingwood when I grow up.
