Nació en Francia y a los 19 años se radicó en Uruguay. Su pasión por las carreras comenzó desde muy chico, ya que su papá corría en moto también, y de él heredó esta gran pasión que lo hizo participar en las competencias más importantes del mundo. Laurent Lazard (31) comenzó a practicar este deporte desde los 12 años, pero fue a partir de los 21 que lo hizo más profesionalmente. Sin dudas, este año vivió una de las experiencias más difíciles en su carrera: el Dakar 2010 que se realizó en Argentina y Chile, y fue el único uruguayo que pudo llegar a la meta, alcanzando el puesto 32, si bien sus expectativas eran otras. “Si no fuera porque me lastimé la rodilla, hubiera deseado estar entre los 15 primeros”, expresó el piloto, quien pudo finalizar todas las etapas de esta riesgosa competencia ya en tres oportunidades. Claro que el Dakar no es para cualquiera, y se necesitan cumplir con algunos requisitos fundamentales. “Lo más importante es la parte psicológica y tenés que estar preparado. Son 15 días en los que comés mal, dormís mal, o sea, se pasa mal”, aseguró Laurent, quien agregó que el apoyo de su novia, Verónica Falcioni (30), y de su familia fue fundamental. “A los otros Dakar que fueron en África, fui con un equipo de asistencia y nada más, pero en éste estuvieron acompañándome mi novia, mi padre y un amigo. La familia de mi novia es motoquera también, y por ende, entiende de qué se trata esto. Nunca me dicen que abandone, y esa es la ayuda y el apoyo que necesito para seguir”.Según confiesa Lazard, al llegar a la meta, la sensación que se vive es ambigua. “Te soy sincero, lo primero que pensás es que por fin terminó, pero enseguida viene una gran felicidad de saber que una vez más llegaste a la meta y completaste el circuito”. El piloto asegura que en su vida actúa igual que cuando está arriba de una moto, que le gusta todo lo

que es extremo y al límite, y que su papá le enseñó a seguir adelante pese a los obstáculos que se presenten y a ir tras los sueños. Y justamente de estos últimos habló Lazard. “En materia laboral, estar entre los 5 mejores del Dakar, sería un sueño cumplido. En lo personal, estoy hace cinco años en pareja, ella renunció a su trabajo para acompañarme en todo, y en un futuro me gustaría casarme y tener hijos, pero todavía necesito la mente libre para poder correr”.
