DE LA SALLE CHRISTIAN BROTHERS OF THE MIDWEST POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT TITLE: Coordinator of Young Lasallian Ministry DEPARTMENT: Lasallian Vocation Ministry REPORTS TO: Auxiliary Visitor of the Midwest District POSITION SUMMARY: The Midwest District of the De La Salle Christian Brothers is part of a global Catholic educational network transforming the lives of the young and the poor since 1680. One of four Lasallian Districts in North America, the ministries of the Midwest District include three universities, 13 high schools, four San Miguel middle schools, four retreat centers and two publishing houses in seven states, as well as the Provincialate Office in Burr Ridge, Illinois. The District includes 131 Brothers and more than 4,000 Lay Partners sharing an educational mission that serves over 20,000 students. The Coordinator of Young Lasallian Ministry animates the Young Lasallian Movement within the Midwest District. The Coordinator is the link between individual Young Lasallians (aged 16- 35) and the worldwide movement of Young Lasallians. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Animate Young Lasallian (YL) Ministry with high school seniors (invite), college students, post college students under 35 and young professionals within our network ministries. Coordinate appropriate accompaniment efforts with an emphasis on, but not limited to, social media and web-based offerings. Serve as the District liaison with YL ministry representatives in each District ministry. Serve as the District liaison with Lasallian Youth moderators within each District high school ministry. Animate District coordination of Lasallian Youth including oversight of assemblies. Be a voice and representative leader of YLs within the Lasallian Vocation and Mission. Connect Lasallian Companions (retired) as mentors and resources for YL mission development. Have an awareness of the potential of evangelization as the YL movement develops.

Collaborate with Assistant Director of Development in sharing information on YLs for various development efforts. Collaborate with Brother Vocation Ministry in areas of Lasallian Vocation discernment. Update on an ongoing basis a database both for the District at large and by geographical region and ministry. (ex. Google forms) Serve as the communication contact between YLs and the District, Region and International levels of the Institute. Create and disseminate the monthly YL Newsletter. Creatively investigate ways to invite and engage YLs. Assist in coordinating geographically clustered gatherings throughout the District. Work with a Brother or Lasallian Partner designated as Director of Accompaniment for YLs, the Midwest Council of Young Lasallians (MWCYL) and its chair furthering the YL movement. Work with the YL representatives of each ministry within the District to help identify YLs esp. potential YL “graduates” of Lasallian ministries. Submit and oversee contributions to various social media. Encourage and catalog District observances of International Lasallian Days of Peace and Spring into Action activities. Attend all Midwest Council of YLs meetings. Update YL information on the Midwest District website. Update YL information cards, brochures and posters. Assist in the development and implementation of a Lasallian Vocation program. Use the online Lasallian formation program as a tool to form YLs. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES INCLUDE:

• Competence in a variety of word processing programs, e.i. Word, Excel, etc. and the ability to learn new technologies.

• Familiarity with multiple social media platforms in a professional setting. • Ability to communicate well in written and oral venues and network with young

professionals and their workplaces. • Ability to organize and follow through, giving attention to detail. Takes initiative with

timely follow through. • Ability to present to groups in a variety of settings.

• Possesses a healthy understanding of his/her own spirituality with the ability to speak about it. Practicing Christian. Significant familiarity with the Young Lasallian Movement.

• Have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher. • Have completed at least three years of successful, post-collegiate ministerial service. • Access to a personal automobile. • Availability for out of town travel and occasional evening/weekend work.
