YIP (Youth Inclusion Group) The YIP provides a range of positive interventions for those young people aged 13-16 year old, deemed to be ‘most at risk’ in the Kensington area. Young people are referred by the YOT, LEA, Schools, Police, Social Services, Connexions and other local agencies. The YIP aims to reduce crime, school and social exclusion through supporting young people and their families. The YIP provides various activities including: Football at Kensington Sports Centre Indoor cricket Friday evening activities (fishing, rock climbing, bowling, skiing) Cultural Awareness The YIP also provides opportunities for local people to improve their skills and experiences whilst volunteering at the YIP. We are based in the Pentocostal Church, Coleridge Street, Kensington. Our administrative based is at 201 Kensington. Eastern Link JET ServicesJET Eastern Link (Jobs, Education and Training) isa free, client-centred service, helpingunemployed people to match their abilities andinterests with job or training opportunities, andassisting local employers find the right staff withthe right training.

Available to residents in the Kensington New Dealfor Communities area, JET provides advice on arange of topics including interview techniques,how to write a successful CV and applicationform and also search for suitable education andtraining courses which will help people to learnrelevant and interesting new skills.

For unemployed KNDC residents JET may alsobe able to pay for work based training courses,childcare, work clothes and equipment andtravel for first month in work.

Advisers are on hand in all three officesMon-Fri 9.00am-4.30pm.

Job BankJob Bank exists to serve the training andemployment needs of the local community.People can access education, trainingand support.

There is also a professional recruitment servicefor employers to ensure that skilled localpeople gain employment.

There are six organisations that operatefrom the Job Bank including, Eastern Link, JET,Kensington Regeneration, Sport Action Zone,Liverpool Lifelong Learning and EthnicMinorities Employability Project.

In addition, the building houses seminar andmeeting rooms, which are often used by thecommunity and corporate groups.

The Job Bank is owned by Parks Options Ltd, acharitable company who actively encouragelocal people to pop in and use the full rangeof services the Job Bank has to offer.

Kensington CommunityWardensStaffing Levels: 2 Supervisors, 12 Wardens

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8am-8pm (2 shifts, 8am-4pm and 12noon-8pm)Saturday 12noon-8pm (1 Shift)

Wardens Main Duties:

1. Provide a visible street presence to deter anti-social behaviour

2. Reduce fly-tipping, graffiti, vandalism and litter3. Visit vulnerable residents and victims of crime

to offer support4. Work with the community and agencies to

address local issues5. Work with children and young people to

develop safe activities and reduce incidencesof youth disorder

6. If we can’t help, we will always try to findsomeone who can.

Kensington New DealPolice TeamNew Deal Police Team operates in andaround the Kensington area. It tacklesvarious problematic issues in the areasuch as anti-social behaviour. The teamalso work with local schools andinvolve themselves with diversionaryactivities for youths.
