The Board of Supervisors of the County of San Luis

SECTION l: That Chapter 2.48 of the San Luis Obispo

County Code be amended by ·adding thereto Section 2.48.180

to·read as follows:

11 2.48.180 - Waoes or Salaries Shall be Fixed Pursuant to Prevailing Salaries or Wages. In fixing compensation to be paid to persons in the County's employ, the Board of Supervisors and every other authority authorized to ·fix salarie~ or wages, shall, in each instance, provide a salary or wage at least ~qual to the prevailing s~lary or wage for the s~me quality of service r~ndered to persons, govarnmental agencies, firms or corporations under similar employment, in case such prevailing ·salary or wage can. be as cert a i n e d .

Pr~vailing salaries ar wages shall be determined by negotiations between the County's employer repiesentatives and the recognized employee Ot_'ganization(s).

In . case such prevailing salaries or wages ~an not be so ascertained or the parties are at an impasse as to the determination of such prevailing wage, the matter shall ~e submitted to a mutually selected arbitrator who shall make a determination on the findings of the negotiating parties or make findings of his · own. 11

The Board of Supervisors of the County of San Luis

Obispo, Stati of California, do ordain as follows:

SECTION 1. That said Board of Supervisors pursuant

to Elections Code Sect ion 3750 duly placed on the November

-7, 1972 General Election ballot, Mea sure 11 8 11, to-wit:

"Shall ordinance compelling County to pay" its emp l oyees prevai ling wage as determined by nego tiation or binding arbitration, be adopted?" ·

SECTION 2. Said Measure "B" at said Election received

23,945 "yes" votes and 22,889 "no" votes, and it be and

hereby is declared and determined that said Measure "B"

received a marjority of the votes cast. ·

SECTION 3. Pursuant to Elections Code Sect ion 3750 ,

the Ordinance proposed by said Measure 11 8 11, by virtue of

receiving a majority of the votes cast, became and is a

valid and binding Ordinance of the County of Sanluis Obispo. :
