Department of Pathology
YENEPOYA MEDICAL COLLEGE
DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY
1. Introduction to department:
The department of Pathology was established in the year 1999. From then on our
department has been taking active participation in undergraduate teaching. From the
year 2005, we started postgraduate training as well. Rendering various diagnostic
facilities for appropriate patient care and conducting research programs are also our
other priorities.
2. Objectives:
1. To give emphasis on the unity and interdependence of the various functions
(diagnostic, academic & research) of the Pathology department with clinical
departments.
2. To expose students to the basic concepts about human diseases theoretically as well
as practically.
3. To provide a continuous integrated educational experience in Human Pathology
during the specified duration of the course.
4. To give students an opportunity to participate in one of the ongoing research
programs being piloted by the faculty
5. To train the postgraduates in their approach to diagnosis in hematology, cytology &
histopathology and also to develop adequate technical skills as well
6. To provide standard, feasible & reliable diagnostic tests to patients for prompt
patient care
7. To conduct research projects on newer advances in the subject
8. To increase community awareness on benefits of blood donation by conducting
regular blood donation camps
