Dear Parents and Friends of Yellowwoods
One of the highlights of the year must be our
School Concert, The Queen of Hearts. Thank
you for all the positive
feedback, support and assistance we have
received from so many. Mrs Wendy Tesnar
ably assisted by Mrs Clem Fetting have
produced an evening which will be fun and
colourful and they have exposed the
children’s talent in an exemplary way. Thank
you to all the teachers who were involved in
supporting these ladies - the backdrop and
stage decor, the design and sewing of
costumes, the catering and refreshments and
moral support.
We look forward to the production this
evening and to watching the children
“sparkle” as they perform.
Reading remains a top priority at school and
we ask that you remind your children to read
continuously during the holiday.
The more that you read,
The more things you will know.
The more that you learn,
The more places you’ll go.
Dr. Seuss.
Last week we were entertained by “The
Incredible Dog Show” on our sports-
fields. We enjoyed the various tricks and
skills performed by six, well trained
dogs. The trainer interacted with the
children who witnessed the dogs obediently
roll over, dance, go through obstacles and
even drive a car! He left us with an
inspirational message about being a hero and
how to care and love one’s pet.
Mrs Amy Ballantyne
Acting Principal

On Saturday our U/9 rugby boys played their
first full field rugby matches in the Frans
Malan tournament in FB. They gave it their all
and drew both of their matches. Well done
boys for your perseverance and pure
determination. Special mention to Lindo
Mhono for scoring a try in each match. Thank
you to the parents that came along to support
their children, it really created a fantastic
atmosphere.

Who let the dogs out? Last Friday the dog show came to visit our
school and we watched some amazing
tricks performed by 6 very well trained
dogs. Not only could they sit, paw and roll
over but one could even drive himself
around in a toy car. We learnt all about
positive reinforcement and how all dogs
can be a Hero if you treat them right.
The senior hockey children played three
matches at the DSG hockey festival in
Grahamstown on Saturday the 3rd of August.
They won all three matches: 2 - 0 against
St Mary's, 2 - 0 against DSG (8 aside) and 5 - 0
against Victoria Primary.
They played extremely well and showed a lot
of skill. Well done to the team for their
excellent sportsmanship and dedication.
U/9 Netball
The u/9 girls played 4 matches at the Fort Beaufort
Primary school festival. They won 2 and lost 2. They
played extremely well against very competitive schools.
