Yearbook Enhancements...Add Value to Your Yearbooks

The following cover processes can be applied to a Litho or Heritage yearbook cover adding a touch of style and sophistication. Ask your sales representative for a complete overview and utilize Volumes Creative Services to understand which materials and processes will work the best.

Cover Processes

BrandingA foil die is used to burn an image into a cover material. Only available with Prestige material in size 7 or 8.

Foil StampingA design or text is stamped onto the cover material using a combination of heat, pressure and a metal die.

Embossing/DebossingAn area of the cover is embossed (raised) and/or debossed (pressed down).

Die-cuttingA shape is cut out of the cover material allowing you to see either the front endsheet or the first page of the yearbook (if the endsheet is also die-cut).

Metal InlayThe embossing process is used to press a design into a layer of gold or silver metal. As the metal is embossed, it is pressed into the cover and the excess metal is cut away leaving a clean edge.

GrainingA form of embossing/debossing in which a textured pattern is applied to a smooth cover.

SilkscreeningA printing method that converts artwork into a mesh screen with thousands of tiny holes that allow ink to flow through the cover material. Ink is applied to the screen and baked onto the cover design.

Tip-OnsA single or multiple printed photos or pieces of artwork adhered to the cover within a debossed area.

Rounded & Soft-Backed BindingThe standard offering includes square, tight-backed binding. The same thickness of cover binders board is used for the spine and the binding forms a tight square edge.
