BACKGROUND
In 2018, Scotland is celebrating the Year of Young People (YoYP).
YoYP is an opportunity to celebrate the amazing young personalities, talents, and achievers that make up
Scotland. It’s all about inspiring our nation through its young people’s ideas, attitudes and ambitions.
GOALS FOR 2018
An ‘Advisory Group’, made up of BB young people, has put forward The BB’s own
objectives for 2018. They are: o

MAKING THE MOST OF THE YoYP2018
Whilst there will be BB national events (and collaborations), what will matter most is how BB engages with YoYP2018 locally- and that companies
and battalions can discuss with their young people about what special events and activities they would like to see take place this year.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED? Given that BB works with children & young people throughout every year, what can companies and
battalions do differently in 2018? The answer is most likely – to continue providing the activities and events
that happen anyway! However, there will be greater focus on young people – nationally and locally – their
achievements, opportunities and their voice. Therefore, it is important that The Boys’ Brigade, as a national
youth organisation, gets involved in YoYP as much as we can. See some of the ways you can get involved
below:
