Question 16: Part a)
Part a) is an example with a completed solution to assist you with how to answer part b). Make sure to read through the example carefully as you need to provide numerical and worded solutions.
Question: The GST has not yet been added to the price of an iPhone 6 valued at $250. Calculate the GST payable.
Solution (1 mark)
Solution in words (2 marks)
10% of $250 = 0.1 x $250 = $25
GST is always 10% of the value. To find the GST amount I changed the 10% to a decimal by dividing it by 100. I then multiplied the decimal by 250 dollars to find the GST.
