Year 6 …

We are looking forward to seeing you all very soon!

Things are a little different but please don’t worry.

Here is what to expect on your first day back …

What time should I arrive at school?

The gates will be open from

8:30-9:00am for you to arrive

at school.

You should use the normal

Year 6 doors to come in.

There will be no waiting in the playground - you

should come straight in and sensibly walk up the

stairs. You will see special markers to help you to

keep your distance from other children.

There will be teachers and teaching assistants in the

playground to remind you of what you need to do.

What should I bring to school with

me?

Coat (wet weather)

Hat (hopefully, this sunny weather will continue!)

(Please also remember to apply sun cream before school).

Morning snack

Lunch box

Water bottle

Pencil case (wipe clean only – please don’t bring in large

or fluffy pencil cases).

As always, please try to label all belongings! Thank you!

What will I do with my belongings?

We will not be using the cloakrooms.

You should bring your coat/hat, bag,

snack and lunch box into the

classroom.

These will be kept next to your table.

There are special

markings on the floor

to help you to

remember social

distancing.

What will the classroom look like?

All the tables have been spaced apart so you will

have your own special work station.

On your table, you will have a tray with all the

equipment you will need – we won’t be having

shared pencil pots.

Your tray will include a pencil, rubber, ruler,

sharpener, glue stick, scissors, mini whiteboard,

pen, skipping rope, head phones and your jotter.

We have special boxes of crayons/felt tips we can

give you but you may prefer to bring your own

wipe clean pencil case with your own pens, felt

tips or gel pens.

Windows and doors will be kept open in the

classrooms and corridors.

What will the classroom look like?

6R

The tables are no longer in

table groups.

Everyone will have their

own special work station.

All pen pots have been

removed – you will have

your own individual supply

of resources.

A laptop will be assigned to

you and we will wipe these

down before and after use.

What will the classroom look like?

6H

Everyone

will have

their own

individual

supply of

resources in

their own

tray.

What should I wear to school?

You should wear your summer school uniform or

PE kit.

You should wear trainers rather than school

shoes.

Ideally, you should try to have your clothes

washed following a day in school.

What is meant by the term ‘bubble?’

Both classes have been divided into two groups: bubble

A and bubble B.

This means that there will be a maximum of 15

children instead of 30.

The children in your bubble are the class mates you

will learn, have lunch and play outside with.

Your bubble with have your class teacher and teaching

assistant(s).

By having smaller groups, we can follow social

distancing – just as you have seen people doing in

shops and in your community.

Which adults will teach me?

6R will be taught by Miss Roberts.

6H will be taught by Mr Hawley.

Mrs Berry will be the teaching assistant in 6R.

Mrs K and Mrs Laing will be the teaching assistants in

6H.

We can’t wait to see you all again!

We have missed you all lots.

Which lessons will we be having?

The timetable will include some English and Maths

activities.

Time will be spent creating your important Year 6

ACHIEVE folders.

We will also complete a range of other subjects: science,

geography, music, French and Art.

We will be thinking about your transition to your new

secondary schools and working on some end of year

activities too!

What will playtimes look like?

You will have playtimes in your special bubble.

Lunch will be eaten in the classroom.

The outside space looks a little different as special

zones have been created.

Each bubble will have their own equipment to play

with.

You can play with the children in your bubble whilst

follow social distancing.

For example, you could make up a dance routine with

your friends, play shoot the basket ball but you couldn’t

play the game ‘it’.

Most importantly, you will still be able to have FUN!

The outside space

has been sectioned into

special zones for each

bubble to play safely.

As public parks are still

closed, we will not be

using the adventure

playground.

Each bubble will

have access to

equipment, such as

footballs, basketballs,

skipping ropes, etc.

Hygiene is very important!!

You will wash your hands on entry to the school

and at frequent intervals throughout the day.

We will remind you to do so!

Each classroom will be cleaned at regular intervals

with surfaces being wiped down.

There will be a special bin for used tissues to be

put in.

You do not need to wear a face mask to school.

When will I go to the toilet?

Each class will have special slots during the day

to go to the toilets.

Only two children per time.

Of course, if you need to go outside the slots,

you will be able to –we will need to remember to

following the social distancing markers throughout

the school.

What time will the school day

finish?

In Year 6, the school day will finish at 3:10pm.

You will leave through the usual Year 6 doors.

As the older children in the school, it is your

responsibility to socially distance if you are

walking home by yourself, although we do

encourage a parent to collect you.

We are so excited to see you very soon!

We look forward to seeing group A on the 1st

June

and group B on the 8th

June.

Miss Roberts, Mr Hawley, Mrs K, Mrs Berry and Mrs

Laing.
