CS Year 6 Maths

Today we did a revision exercise on different

types of quadrilaterals (eg. Square, rectangle,

rhombus, kite, trapezium) - groups of four

pupils had to create a given shape on

command. This task required them to recall

learning from yesterday on what each shape

looks like, and it involved team work plus a

lot of fun!

LR - PSHEE (Personal, Social, Health, & Economic Education)

In PSHEE lessons this term, students at Lambeth Rd have been learning about the

Zones of Emotional Regulation.

We’ve had fun learning the vocabulary and body language relating to a large range of

emotional states and we’ve shared stories of times we have been in each of the 4

‘zones of emotion’.

The zones are described below:

The Red Zone is used to describe extremely heightened states of alertness and intense

emotions. A person may be elated or experiencing anger, rage, explosive behaviour, devastation,

or terror when in the Red Zone.

The Yellow Zone is also used to describe a heightened state of alertness and elevated emotions,

however one has more control when they are in the Yellow Zone. A person may be experiencing

stress, frustration, anxiety, excitement, silliness, the wiggles, or nervousness when in the Yellow

Zone.

The Green Zone is used to describe a calm state of alertness. A person may be described as

happy, focused, content, or ready to learn when in the Green Zone. This is the zone where

optimal learning occurs.

The Blue Zone is used to describe low states of alertness and down feelings such as when one

feels sad, tired, sick, or bored.

The Zones can be compared to traffic signs. When given a green light or in the Green Zone, one

is “good to go”. A yellow sign means be aware or take caution, which applies to the Yellow

Zone. A red light or stop sign means stop, and when one is the Red Zone this often is the

case. The Blue Zone can be compared to the rest area signs where one goes to rest or re-

energize.

But on Friday the 1st of March we learnt some bad news in assembly. People across the country

have been losing control of their emotions and children at FHS have been visited by a set of Social

Villains who like nothing more than to see children cast into the blue, yellow and red zones!

LR: PSHEE Assembly

Today’s PSHEE assembly at Lambeth Road featuring the villains: ‘Rock Brain’, ‘Glassman’, ‘Worry

Wall’ and ‘Energy Edith’. Miss Jaynes led with ‘Superflex’ strategies to deal with these villains………

The villains to watch out for are:

But the good news is that we managed to defeat them all by thinking of strategies that we could

use to get back into the green zone for learning. So now we feel confident to practise them over

the next few weeks.

Please use the same language at home to help us to understand our own and other people’s

feelings. We know that you’ll have lots of great ideas to help us get back into the green zone

when we’ve entered the blue/yellow or red zones! Wish us luck!!
