Dear Parents,
We have made a weekly pack that coincides with the learning that the key worker
children will be doing in school for Year 3. Our theme this week is beaches. We have
included a suggested timetable of daily tasks including the Zoom lessons for maths and
English Monday - Friday next week.
Monday
English – Zoom lesson based on ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker
Maths – Zoom lesson about angles
Topic – Design an ice-cream sundae or cone
Tuesday
English – Zoom lesson based on ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker
Maths – Zoom lesson about angles
Reading – ‘All about Beaches’ comprehension
Wednesday
English – Zoom lesson based on ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker
Maths – Zoom lesson about angles
Topic – Research seasides during the Victorian era
Thursday
English – Zoom lesson based on ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker
Maths – Zoom arithmetic
Spelling – choose 6-10 words from either the Year 2 or Year 3 spelling list. Practise
using ‘Look, cover, write, check’ and put words into sentences. Topic – Create a paper plate beach
Friday
English – Bees Knees/share writing
Maths – Bingo/ maths games
Handwriting – Copy ‘A Seashore Song’ in your neatest, joined handwriting
Topic – Finger puppets
English – Narrative
This week we will continue to base our writing around the picture book ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker. You do not need to prepare anything ahead of time as we will share the
relevant pictures in the Zoom lessons. Just make sure you have a pencil and paper and
are ready to be a writing superstar!

(Making turns will not be covered in the zoom lesson due to the confusion of teaching
clockwise and anti-clockwise turns over a mirrored, but please feel free to complete
pages 155 and 156 in your workbooks if you want to)

Please read out loud to an adult every day. Below are possible questions to discuss about
your book.

Design an ice cream sundae or cone. Can you invent your own ice cream flavour? What
would your ultimate ice cream sundae look like? Can you create a collage?
Create a paper plate beach. Can you design a beach? What natural and physical features
would you find?
Victorian Seaside – research about the seaside in the Victorian era. What is the same
and what is different? Can you draw a picture or write a diary entry? You could focus
on one British seaside like Brighton, Blackpool or Scarborough.
