English - Learn and write an adaption of the journey tale The Tunnel by Anthony Browne using all the language features taught so far. - Begin to use the different types of sentences correctly; command, statement, exclamation, questions and compound. - To know the spelling rules for adding the suffixes –ment, -ness, -ful and -less - To begin to use an apostrophe correctly for contractions. - To learn about homophones; words that sound the same but they are spelt differently and have different meanings, for example here/hear/, there/their/they’re/ etc. - To revisit the features of a recount learnt in Year 1 and use this to write a news report about a significant event. Maths - Continue to learn the 2, 5 and 10 times tables and recall them quickly in and out of order. - Begin to use their times tables to help them solve multiplication and division problems using a range of methods taught. - Recall their addition and subtraction facts up to 20 and use this to solve problems. - To recognise the value of coins and notes and use these to solve a range of problems involving money. - To know the different units of measurements and use them to measure length, mass, capacity, distance and time. Geography - To identify the human features of the land and recognise landmarks from around the world. -Discuss the impact and the purpose bridges and tunnels in their local area and around the world. - Name and locate famous tunnels, bridges, Computing - Using an online paint program to add and text and images to create digital art. - To use 2paint to recreate impressionist and pointillism art.
