THE SCHOOL FOR EXCELLENCE

The School For Excellence (TSFX) is an independent organisation that specialises in the development and delivery of high quality lectures and programs for HSC students. Our specialised programs are based on a unique system which ensures students receive the best opportunities to optimise their HSC scores. We believe that, given the right opportunities, guidance and support, EVERY student has the potential to excel in their studies.

During the course of our lectures, students receive complete and thorough instruction, and NOT just a simple overview of the basic principles of each subject. You will be taught by current and experienced HSC teachers - many of whom are authors of HSC textbooks, writers and markers of HSC examinations, members of exam committees and syllabus curriculum writers for HSC subjects. Teachers are carefully selected on the merits of their academic and professional achievements, and with special consideration to their communication skills. Our teachers are renowned for explaining concepts in a manner that students find very easy to understand!

Our programs are fun, interactive and conducted in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Students are encouraged to participate in question time and discussion sessions, and to clarify individual concerns. Don’t miss out!

EXCLUSIVE BONUS LECTURE - FREE OF CHARGE!

Our Unique and Powerful “Essay Writing Skills” Lecture

It has been repeatedly demonstrated that students who are able to construct a systematic, progressive argument in English are better able to grasp topics set for study, prepare efficiently for examinations, cope with stress, and attain better results. Our Essay Writing Skills lecture will set out strategies that may be applied to the Area of Study and Modules, for Advanced and Standard students. It will provide systematic, rational strategies to allow students to construct sophisticated and persuasive arguments.

This lecture will focus on persuasion as the purpose of the English essay, and proceed with a rational approach to structuring paragraphs and introductions that are consistent with this purpose. This lecture will also focus on technical analysis and its place in a structured argument, proposing that concepts, themes and ideas are functions of techniques. It will focus on the analysis of techniques as evidence in a persuasive argument, and the place for this evidence in a well-argued paragraph. Essay scaffolds and models will be provided, simplifying the sometimes complex and bewildering task of composing an English essay. By incorporating practical steps, critical advice, exercises and examples, our Essay Writing Skills lecture will certainly boost students’ confidence in English. The process of essay writing will become as simple as any other task, allowing students to build and express sophisticated, rational arguments that will persuade markers of students’ points of view. Common examination errors will also be addressed.

Valued at $150 - This lecture is available FREE OF CHARGE to those students enrolling into two or more Summer School subjects.

Dates: Two identical sessions are available. Session 1: 9:30am to 12:30pm, Monday 14th January 2013Session 2: 1:30pm to 4:30pm, Friday 25th January 2013
