What is Sociology?Sociology is the study of the social world, and the behaviour of humans in a variety of situations. Several aspects of human behaviour are studied, creating an understanding of society in a changing world. Sociologists study a wide range of topics including class, gender, schools, childhood, power, media, social mobility, crime and poverty.

Through studying GCSE Sociology, students will:

·acquire knowledge and understanding of how society works

·understand sociological methodology and a range of research methods

·reflect on their own experience of the social world in which they live·develop their critical thinking
