OCR Entry Level Certificate – Geography

Assessment overview

1. Dynamic World 30 marks 30%. 1 house assessment

Our world: This topic encourages students to engage with their “local” place by

understanding who lives there and how it has changed over time. Students also explore

how the world is changing with a particular focus on megacities.

Destructive world: In this topic students will have the opportunity to explore tectonic and

flood hazards, particularly focusing on their causes and impacts. The case studies enable

students to investigate two places in a little more depth.

Resourceful world: Students have the chance to investigate why rainforests are so

important to the planet and people and how they are used. This topic discovers the

importance of food and energy in the UK as well as fairtrade for farmers in distant places.

2. Fieldwork notebook 30 marks 30%. Coursework

Students will need to complete fieldwork. A centre based question will be agree with

students once they have completed their work in term 1.

Previous example fieldwork notebook questions:

Where does our canteen food come from?

What happens to all the waste from our school

Personal project 40 marks 40%. Coursework

Students will complete a project on an area from the specification that they have found

interesting and would like to pursue. This will be agree with Mr Naughton after Fieldwork

notebook has been submitted.

Previous example projects:

Why does the world need tropical rainforests?

What is life like for a young person living in megacity?

Students must complete all tasks to be awarded the Entry Level Certificate in Geography.

The tasks are assessed by the centre and externally moderated by OCR

Cambridge Nationals – Creative iMedia (ICT)

Year 11This course has:•4 units in total.

•1 unit is an exam, worth 25% of their overall qualification

•3 units are coursework units, worth 75% of their overall qualification.

In year 10:•Students have successfully completed one coursework unit.

•Students began preparing for the exam just before lockdown.

•Most students continued to undertake learning for the exam during the lockdown period.

Because students did not get the opportunity to sit a mock exam before lockdown, there are no

CAGs we can use for the exam unit at the moment.

In year 11:•The plan is for students to complete the remaining two units of coursework (deadlines pending).

•Although OCR have not released official guidance on this as they are still waiting for guidance from Ofqual, they have told schools to “continue with their plans for year 11” and “if

all units cannot be completed, a grade will be generated for what is missing. Learners will not be at a disadvantage for being unable to complete the course due to time restrictions.” This does

not mean however that students can get away with not completing the coursework units, or

taking this situation lightly. It is highly unlikely we will have time for the exam, the completed 3

coursework units will play an extremely crucial role for calculating a CAG grade for the exam unit

for all students.

Information for Year 11 Music StudentsName of Course: BTEC L2 First Music Exam board: Pearson Edexcel

We are following the exam board guidelines and are working closely with Pearson Edexcel to ensure that you get the best result possible for your music qualification. I will continue to keep you informed of all

developments as they unfold. At present we have to socially distance in the classroom. Practical work can be conducted as a solo or a

duet within your year group bubble. Where possible you should record practical evidence at home as space in the department is limited at present. Please ensure you bring your music, lyrics and instruments with you where needed, as well as your own stationery. You have your own music folder to keep information in, but

most of your work will be completed electronically. All practical resources will need to be wiped down after use, including instruments and computers.

The main school procedures should be followed at all times within and around the department. Written work will be set to be completed on teams and can also be sent via email.

You will have regular mentor sessions with me to check on your progress and help you keep on track with your coursework. Unit breakdown:
