Science

There are 2 tiers of entry

The easiest way for some students to get a B

grade is to do foundation theory entries in

Y10 and a good practical exam in Year 11

It is much easier to score a high UMS on the

foundation paper than the higher paper

Re sitting at a higher tier is possible in Year

11 to improve grades

SETTING

In Year 10 there will be two classes following the Triple Science Pathway -10 Hydrogen & 10 Helium

Dependent on Y10 triple science external module results, some students will be moved to Double Science in Year 11

All other sets will follow the Double Science Pathway introduced for first award in June 2018

Double science does not influence or change any opportunities to study science or any other subjects at A level

Criteria used to make setting decisions:

Data from KS3 performance, class tests and examinations in science as well as external performance in the national literacy and numeracy testing was taken into consideration.
