School Uniform As I walk around the school each day, it is pleasing to see most students taking pride in wearing the full school uniform, including hat, jacket and black shoes. Lately, however, I have noticed a number of students wearing casual jackets and joggers to school. Wearing full school uniform is strongly encouraged at Yates Avenue PS and is a sign of respect for the school and the values we uphold. The uniform shop is open every Friday morning from 8:45-9:15am, with reasonably-priced clothing. Please purchase from the uniform shop as a small portion of the sales is returned to the school to purchase resources for our students. ENETRTAINMENT BO OK

XOXOXOX

PRESCHOOL NEWS Preschool Dolphins and Turtles continue to enjoy the story “The Cow Tripped Over the Moon”. This story was first read to us by Mrs. Keeffe for National Simultaneous Storytime. We have enjoyed re-reading the story to support and strengthen our learning across all curriculum areas. We have been learning about words that rhyme, nursery rhymes, exercise time, perseverance, clocks, literacy, numeracy and science concepts. It also fits beautifully with our Preschool “teamwork” projects and experiencing success! We plan to continue exploring the story further to embed a love of reading, literacy and learning. Our “teamwork” projects support opportunities to practice being safe, respectful and responsible learners each day.

PSSA Soccer We are nearly at the end of Term 2 and the soccer teams have had a great start to their PSSA competition. In our games so far, Yates have competed against:

Vs Juniors Seniors Burnside Lost 4-1 Won 5-1 Dundas Lost 4-1 Won 6-0

Ermington west Won 3-0 Won 12-0 Parramatta Won 4-2 Draw 2-2

It is a tough competition and the children are doing their very best. Some children have never played soccer before so it is a great opportunity for them to get out there and have some fun. This week our teams will travel on the bus to Rydalmere to compete against Rydalmere Public School. The first game will start around 9:30am if any parents can make it.
