Principal’s Message
Dear Parents and Students
What a very busy term! Luckily, a well-earned break is just around the corner.
Thank you everyone for your involvement in your child's education this term.
Homework help, volunteer help in classrooms, grounds care, contribution to the
P&C, very supportive staff and keen student leaders have all assisted our students
to do their best.
Thanks to our school staff who have worked tirelessly during the term to plan and
provide relevant and innovative learning experiences. The resulting learning
experiences are assisting your child to develop life-long learning habits.
Special congratulations are extended to all the students on your efforts
and positive attitude towards all the learning experiences this term. Well
done!
Next term is set to be an exciting one with ANZAC Day, Interhouse Cross
Country, NAPLAN, Southern Downs sporting trials, etc. Don’t forget to keep
up the fitness training over the break. Cross Country Run is in Week 2. To
do your best, you have to be at your best!
The Autumn vacation begins this Friday afternoon, 4th
April. School
resumes on Tuesday 22nd
April. Happy Easter to those families celebrating
during this religious time. Have an enjoyable and relaxing holiday from
everyone at Yangan State School.
ANZAC Day March and Service
ANZAC Day is in the first week after the holidays, Friday 25th
April. Our
school is very proud of being involved in this long tradition of our
community’s ANZAC Day Remembrance Parade and Service.
Students are asked to assemble at the Carey’s Butchers at 7:30am on Friday 25
th April. The march leaves this location at
about 7:45am and marches to the School of Arts Hall for the service. This is a special opportunity for all our students to be a
part of and contribute to a community event. Students will be involved in wreath laying, poetry recitation and a choir
performance. Your assistance in having your children dressed in school uniform for the march is gratefully appreciated. Our
choir and student leaders have also been invited to perform at the ANZAC DAY service at Emu Vale. More information
regarding this service will be given to choir members and student leaders.
Warwick Show Results
I was very pleased to see the student’s results from their participation in the Warwick Show. It is always a pleasure to see our
students’ achievements through their hard work and commitment. I congratulate every student in the school for
participating in this community event.
In particular, we must congratulate: Aliza Hoffman ( Year 6 An Asian Neighbour Poster 2nd
) Lauren Hutchinson (Year 5 Map of
North America 2nd
) and Stacey Lamb (Year 4 Acrostic Poem 3rd
)
If you have any queries or concerns regarding your child’s education or any other school related matter, please have no
hesitation in contacting the school (4664 8224) or emailing me at [email protected]
Have a great week.
Regards,
Ian Rathmell

Keep a watch on our school these holidays
With the holidays fast approaching, we need you to look out for after-hours crime in our school. If you see
anything suspicious, please call School Watch on 13 17 88.
The School Watch program is a partnership between the Department of Education, Training and Employment,
the Queensland Police Service and the State Government Protective Security Service. It aims to reduce
vandalism, theft and arson in Queensland schools.
If you do see something suspicious, please don’t attempt to intervene. Call the School Watch number and let the
local police or State Government Protective Security Service deal with the matter. Keep the number handy—13
17 88—and let’s work together to help create a safer school community.
