GUESTS: Cr Greg Rogerson, Janelle Tidey, Stephen Patey (SCC Strategic Planning Branch) and Peter Rhimes (SCC Plumbing Inspector) Newly elected President Leon Granzien opened the meeting at 7.25 pm. APOLOGIES: Sepp Schembera, Rose and Col Nation, Marty Hunt MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Minutes of the August meeting, which had been posted on the website and available for perusal, were taken as read and accepted on the motion of Sheila Butcher/ Lynda Tomkins. All Agreed. Liz Gaskin confirmed that Sepp Schembera was now receiving the minutes. MATTERS ARISING: None TREASURER’S REPORT: Pat Cordwell presented the Treasurer’s Report which indicated a balance of $3,967.24 in the Chamber account as at 31 August 2018. Moved Pat, seconded Leon, that the Treasurer’s Reports be received. All Agreed. Pat reported a balance of $9,995.15 in the Street Fair Account, with some invoices/ accounts still to be received and paid. . CORRESPONDENCE: Several emails had been received and redistributed to all members through the general or secretary email systems. LOCAL GOVERNMENT REPORT: Cr Rogerson thanked Steven Patey and Peter Rhimes for coming to the meeting tonight, and then commented on the following: The proposed Wappa Falls/ Creightons Road development is currently going through a Council Planning Scheme amendment to be in alignment with the SEQ Plan. Regarding the proposed Tourist Park development north of the township, Council and Chamber reps had met with owner and their consultants. The now proposed swimming pool within the development would be an asset for the Yandina community, but this would require changes to their Development Application. Greg queried if the Yandina community would support the idea of a new pool.

Minutes of the Meeting held at Connections

Tuesday 11 September 2018 at 7.25 pm

PRESENT: Pat Cordwell, David Tidey, Lynda Tomkins, Mike and Sheila Butcher, Liz Gaskin, Leon Kane, Nev Kane, Malcolm Chilman, Paul Madden and Leon Granzien.

Peter Rhimes (SCC Plumbing Inspector) Newly elected President Leon Granzien opened the meeting at 7.25 pm.

MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Minutes of the August meeting, which had been posted on the website and

available for perusal, were taken as read and accepted on the motion of Sheila Butcher/ Lynda Tomkins. All Agreed. Liz Gaskin confirmed that Sepp Schembera was now receiving the minutes.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Pat Cordwell presented the Treasurer’s Report which indicated a balance of

• Two (2) new development approvals; one of 15 units and the other of 9 units.

• Greg responded to a question from the floor about the rapid growth of the Paulger Flat Industrial Estate, and stated that this is State Government jurisdiction, but he could find out more details about it.

• Steggalls Road housing development – ongoing negotiations about vegetation offsets.

STEPHEN PATEY PRESENTATION: • Stephen Patey from SCC Strategic planning Branch gave a AV

Presentation the meeting; refer Attachment A; “Yandina Town Plan Presentation – Sept 2018”.

• Stephen also discussed the timeframe for the current Council Planning amendment regarding the proposed Wappa Falls Road/ Creightons Road development, and suggested it could take18-24 months.

• There was general discussion after the presentation about the pressures of growth on communities across the region. Stephen commented that Yandina has good infrastructure networks in place (transport, water, sewerage) that can assist growth.

• Stephen encouraged the Chamber to gear up for the next Planning Scheme for Yandina which is due in a few years.

• Greg commented that the community can put forward proposals to SCC about improvements to the IGA intersection and he is willing to push the matter with DTMR.

• Stephen gave the Chamber an Aerial map of the Yandina township. Leon to arrange additional copies from SCC.

PETER RHIMES PRESENTATION:

Peter Rhimes advised that he will be holding two (2) public meetings/ presentations in Yandina in October and November called ‘Flushed with Success’; dates and times to be confirmed. The meetings/ presentations will discuss issues related to domestic onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems and the potential effect on the waterways in the area.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: • Leon acknowledged the work of David and Sheila as President and

Secretary of the Chamber over the years, and thanked Pat Cordwell for her years as Treasurer and for her willingness to continue in that capacity.

• Subject to final negotiations, the venue for future chamber meetings will be the Yandina Bowls Club.

• Leon and Liz will liaise to upgrade the Yandina Chamber website. • Leon considered the formation of an ‘Alliance’ between Nambour,

Yandina, Woombye and Montville chambers and business associations as important.

• Leon suggested he would try to double the current membership of the Chamber over the coming year. He encouraged every member to get involved to see growth and development in our membership.

• In addition, Leon will be review the Chamber’s Rules of Association with Rose Nation and propose amendments for approval.

OTHER BUSINESS ARISING: Bridge over river south side of town: There had been another serious

accident on this bridge in the last month. Council were encouraged to make strong representation to DTMR to address the problem.

There being no further business, the meeting closed at 8.55 pm

NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be a Chamber/Community Forum Meeting on Tuesday 9 October 2018; time and venue to be confirmed, but most likely at the Yandina Bowls Club in Steggalls Road.

Infrastructure

• Yandina has ‘good bones’ – well laid out, wide roads, good access to town centre, employment areas, major transport infrastructure corridors, etc.

• Council is just one of many infrastructure providers – Unitywater, various Queensland Government departments and agencies

• Council employs a range of programs to guide, plan and fund infrastructure investment across the region – LGIP is key tool.

Planned Infrastructure Works for 2018/19 FY

For this financial year, Council has approximately $1.7M committed to infrastructure projects in Yandina, including:-

• Streetscape Improvements for Farrell Street and Stephens Street.

• North Street Car Park Upgrade.

• Pathway renewal near primary school.
