GROUP MONITOR MODE
Digital Group Monitor automatically checks whether users within a communication group are in or out
of range, and displays information such as distance and orientation on the screen of the client radio
for up to 24 Stations. Each individual group can share Text and Picture messages between
themselves, allowing intelligent control of how content is distributed amongst a large operating group.
Group Monitor is almost an invaluable feature when an operator or group of operators needs to
track resources, such as in an emergency communication operation. Resources can easily be tracked
and controlled, letting operators know when they are going to fall out of range and may need
PICTURE MESSAGING
Image data which sent from a group member is displayed
on the full-color screen of the FTM-400DR or
Monochromatic display of the FT2DR. This image data
also retains a time record and the GPS location data of
the snapshot
It is easy to navigate to that pictured location by using
back track function. In addition, you can observe on the
screen whether the transmitted data was successfully
received by the member station.
The snapshot image or received data is stored in a high
capacity micro SD card, and you can recall and send that
image data from the SD card anytime. The pictures and
data files may be easily viewed and edited by using a
personal computer by simply inserting the SD Card into
any SD Card reader.
TEXT MESSAGING WITH T9
Text messaging could not be simpler,
with direct entry via T9 Text input or
the On Screen Keyboard (FTM-400),
messages can be sent quickly to an
individual operator, group of
operators (GM Mode), or to ALL (CQ
like)
SMART NAVIGATION FUNCTIONS/BACKTRACK FUNCTION
The Smart/Real-time navigation function enables
location checking at any time. In digital V/D
mode, information such as position data is
transmitted together with voice signals so the
distance and direction to the other stations can
be displayed in real-time while communicating
with them. You can also use such functions with
analog APRS from your S-list.
The Backtrack Function enables navigation to a
registered location at the touch of a button.
When hiking or camping, simply register your
starting point or campsite before departure, and
the distance and orientation from the current
location are displayed on the screen.
FUSION DATA NARROW READS OUT THE CALL SIGN DISTANCE AND YOU CAN USE THE NAVIGATION FUNCTION ON THE QSO

WIRES-X – WIDE AREA INTERNET LINKING
WIRES (Wide-coverage Internet Repeater Enhancement System) is an Internet communication system which
expands the range of amateur radio communication. For WIRES-X, an amateur node station connecting to the
Internet is used as the access point and connects the wireless communication to the Internet. Users’ stations can
communicate with other amateur stations all over the world using a node within the radio wave range. WIRES-X
automatically connects to nodes and rooms via the Internet.
No more need to verify connection IDs or transmit DTMF connection codes. Information about nodes and rooms is
exchanged via C4FM Digital signaling. Thanks to automatic reconnection to the previous contact, all you need to
do is press PTT and start talking. Easily search for new nodes and rooms, and initiate communication promptly
when you find an ID that captures your interest.
VARIOUS CONNECTION POSSIBILITIESNOTE ANALOG SUPPORTED ON WIRES-X ALSO
USING THE WIRES-X BUTTON TO CONNECT FOR CONTROL OF ROOMS
You do not need to use the connect button
to talk on a WiRES-X Node or repeater.
If you can hear the station you can work
her/him just by replying to the call. You
can toss out your call also “K8XG, Listing
WiRES-X” for example. If you use the DX
Wires connect button you need to have a
strong signal to connect. The screen will
show the current WiRES-X room the node
or repeater is connected to.

ACTIVE MONITORING FROM YOUR MOBILE
• Currently active nodes and rooms can be searched in real
time, and viewed on the display of your transceiver. The
display list is sorted according to the number of stations
currently connected to the room, in other words by
popularity. This lets you quickly find other active stations to
communicate with. Node owners can freely create a room
ID using letters and numbers. The ID works a bit like the
name of a person. Easy to understand, meaningful names,
unique names, memorable names… all are possible and
can be used in a targeted search. A history of previous
nodes and rooms, and a memory function with five
categories makes it a snap to find and connect with a
particular ID.APRS Automatic / Amateur Position Finding

RF LINKING FUSION REPEATERSVERY HANDY WHEN INTERNET AT REPEATER SITE IS HARD TO GET OR LOW BANDWIDTH
RF linking is possible with any firmware/hardware version of DX-1 Repeaters, Direct
Connection of the HRI-200 requires a PC and Internet access at the repeater site plus
Hardware platform 1.1x of the repeater. Its easier for Repeater Engineers to control
the Wires-X from their control points and even use TeamViewer on the Wires-X PC to
change rooms, parameters, or adjust admin settings like a Ban Node etc.…

3RD PARTY DIGITAL NET DEVICES THAT ALLOW REFLECTOR USE OUTSIDE OF YAESU SERVERS LIKE D-STAR OFFERS
• DV4MINI – The first to offer Fusion support and provide FCS reflectors
• DV MEGA – While promising Fusion, it is now finally upgradable to CF4M
• Blue Stack – Upgrade to DV Mega to use Blue Tooth on Android
• Open Spot – allows Trans-coding between C4FM and DMR

DV4MINI HTTP://WIRELESSHOLD.COM/MODEMS.ASPX
• D-Star – C4FM – DMR – P25 –Dpmr
• USB dongle works on PC – Raspberry Pi
• Support Xreflector.net rooms
• Recent upgrade to support BrandMeister DMR
rooms as well as DMRPlus
• Lowest cost personal hot spot - $129
• Antenna not included
• Requires Manual DMR calibration
• Many Hams do not perform the calibration
leading folks to call the users out as DV4MINI
users not sounding good on DMR.
• Wireless holdings is the USA importer
DV MEGA HTTP://WWW.DVMEGA.AURIA.NL/RPI_RADIO.HTML
• D-Star – DMR – C4FM
• Originally only for D-Star in popular DVAP
• Recent upgrade to support BrandMeister
DMR rooms as well as C4FM FCS rooms
• Models to sit on Raspberry Pi – Arduino
• I have not yet tested it on DMR; I have used
Fusion and D-Star only. I updated a D-Star
DVAP I had using a jumper to reset CPU wire
and a Pi Program to update my firmware
for Fusion.
BLUE STACKHTTP://WWW.COMBITRONICS.NL/
• Provides a Blue Tooth plate for the DV Mega
to sit on instead of a RaspPi
• Connects to Android Phones and Tablets
• Lets you use a cell phone 3/4G for the
internet connection directly , no WiFi
• Also provide a platform for firmware
updates without needing a RaspPi Image
• Android app must always be in the
foreground
• Also supports G4KLX and MMDVM software
on PC USB connection

IT IS IMPORTANT TO UPDATE FUSION RADIOS FIRMWAREMAIN FIRMWARE – DSP – TTF DISPLAYS IF APPLICABLE
• All radios in a given system should be using the most up-to-date stable firmware for best
operation and audio quality
• DSP performs the audio work
• Firmware runs the operations and many times new feature or menu items can appear in
updates
• TFT runs the display, like the updated color waterfall in the FT-991 radio
• They most all be at the same level
• Update instructions are on the FILES tab of the Yaseu product page, like this example:
