The 2012-2013 Season is Young Auditorium’s 20th Anniversary of presenting world-class performing arts entertainment. In the spirit of celebration and thanksgiving, we invite you to several free events programmed throughout the season. We kick off the celebration with a world music party featuring Delhi 2 Dublin & Rana Santacruz. The event is free, but tickets are required. This season we are also partnering with the Janesville Gazette to present the United States Army Field Band and Soldiers Chorus on Monday,

October 29, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. This is a free event and tickets must be obtained through the Gazette. Please watch for the announcement and details in the Gazette. Then get ready to wave some Edelweiss because “Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music” is coming to the Young Auditorium on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. During this free event, everyone can sing along with Julie Andrews and the von Trapp family while enjoying this wonderful film.

We hope to provide a celebratory atmosphere throughout the year with some favorite artists, special guests and cherished friends returning to join our 20th Anniversary party. Please join us for the music of The Eagles, Jimi Hendrix, The Temptations, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, John Denver, and favorite composers including Mozart, Debussy, and Piazzolla and classic literature from Shakespeare, Thornton Wilder and Edmond Rostand. We are overjoyed that our dear friends Leahy, John McGivern and The Four Bitchin’ Babes will be returning, along with the legendary Vince Lombardi and the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award®-winning “A Chorus Line.”

ANNIVERSARY SEASON

Page 14: YA Fall wrap

14 Footnotes

During this celebration, it’s important to remember those who work behind the scenes, our dedicated staff, our energetic student workers, and our loyal volunteers. The Young Auditorium would not exist without the dedication and teamwork of many individuals who dared to dream and worked to make that dream a reality. That team included 2,886 inaugural donors who joined together to make this marvelous facility possible. As we pause and look back to those who imagined and helped realize the dream of this fine facility, we must acknowledge Chancellor James R. Connor, Irvin L. Young and Fern Young, Lorraine Gross, the students, faculty, staff and alumni of UW-Whitewater, the state of Wisconsin, and the thousands of area citizens who gave their support to make Young Auditorium a reality.

Young Auditorium’s success is due to the strong support it has received over the years.

If you would like to be part of this legacy of giving, please consider the 20th Anniversary Endowed Chair Campaign. The last unnamed eighty seats in the Auditorium are available for patrons to reserve. Commemorate a special family event or place your name on an engraved seatback plaque along with the other 1,220 personalized seats in the Auditorium. You will be able to choose which of the Young Auditorium’s endowment funds that your $1,000 tax deductible gift will support. This opportunity is extremely limited. To reserve your seat, contact Ben Strand at 262-472-6224 or [email protected].

Invite your friends and family to join in celebration of 20 years filled with memories, laughter, and soul-stirring performances. Help us build a bright future filled with the creative spark of the performing arts with its power to transform lives, bring joy, and lift us all to greater understanding.
