Good evening and let me welcome all of you to the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce’s“Yorktown Best of. . .Awards & Cocktail Reception”. Tonight we are marking our 20thYear!

The Yorktown Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize the following communityleaders:

Joseph C. Riina of Site Design Consultants is our Business Person-of-the-Year. He hasreceived recognition as a professional engineer resulting from nearly 40 years in thecivil engineering industry. Today he is a licensed professional engineer in New Yorkand Connecticut. In March of 1985, Site Design Consultants took a place on the map inYorktown Heights, and is celebrating 33 years of success. The Company has estab-lished roots in Yorktown that goes beyond business. Site Design is not just a businessin Town, it is part of the fabric of the Town in all senses, and is genuinely interested inYorktown as a thriving and vibrant community.

Events To Remember, a Division of Events by Chereese, Inc. under the leadership ofChereese Jervis-Hill, is our Business-of-the-Year! ETR is a full-service managementand public relations firm specializing in conceptualizing, organizing, managing, mar-keting and publicizing events and experiences for their clients. Led by Chereese whohas over two decades of event management experience and who is a true professionalwith drive and vision.

The Shrub Oak Athletic Club is this year’s Co-Organization-of-the-Year! It is an all-volunteer youth sports organization dedicated to bringing the children the best sportsactivities possible focusing on the value of teamwork, learning the game, sportsman-ship and just having fun.

The Yorktown Athletic Club is this Year’s Co-Organization-of- the-Year! It is an all-volunteer organization serving over 1,200 families with over 2,000 athletes since 1948in a safe and fun environment.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported this jour-nal and all who have made this evening possible. It is each and every one of youwho have brought this Chamber to the level that it is and we can all be proud of itsaccomplishments.

BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR

Joseph C. Riina

Joseph C. Riina has received recognition as aprofessional engineer resulting from nearly40 years in the civil engineering industry.His experience began working in this fieldwhile studying for his engineering educationat Manhattan College where he received hisBachelor and Master Degrees. Today he is alicensed professional engineer in New Yorkand Connecticut. In March of 1985, Site De-sign Consultants took a place on the map inYorktown Heights, and is celebrating 33years of success.

From one end of Town to the other, you cansee projects designed by one of Yorktown’stop engineering firms. The Firm’s primaryfocus is site planning and civil engineeringfor commercial and residential develop-ments. Projects span from single and multi-family homes and residential subdivisions, aswell as many commercial projects such as of-fice buildings, shopping centers, banks,churches, educational institutions, recreationcomplexes, and marinas. Most of their workbegan locally, but the Firm gradually ex-panded into neighboring Towns throughoutWestchester County, and many areas outsidethe County and State, and eventually intoNew York City. Most of Site Design’s projectscome from referrals built on a respected rep-utation. Repeat customers and maintaining

long-time personal relationships is part of theCompany’s key to success.

Joe takes pride in seeing all the projects thatwere designed and have been built. To saythe least, Site Design has put a thumbprint onthe Town in many ways. Being civic-minded,the Firm has also provided engineering ex-pertise as a courtesy to the Town and com-munity on many projects.

Site Design’s current keystone project inYorktown is the Granite Knolls Sports andRecreational Complex. The project brokeground in November of 2017 and scheduledto open in 2018. The Complex will havesomething for every age group and ability.This facility is going to be a destination andis unique to the area. Other current projectswhich Joe believes will have a historic impacton the Town of Yorktown are several proj-ects at the Yorktown Triangle intersectionincluding the Weyant and the ROMA build-ing which will bring much needed multi-gen-erational rental housing as well asprominence to the focal point of YorktownHeights.

Located at 251-F Underhill Avenue in York-town Heights, Site Design Consultants hasbeen a member of the Yorktown Chamber ofCommerce since the 1990’s. Through theyears, Joe has recognized the importance ofthe Chamber of Commerce to the businesscommunity and also its importance to thecommunity-at-large which Joe has supported.Site Design has presented new developmentprojects to the Chamber as a sounding boardfor feedback and recommendations.

The Company has a presence in the Townsupporting civic organizations, local events,and scholarship programs. Site Design enthu-siastically promotes the field of engineeringto future generations and offers internshipsfor aspiring students. Joe is committed tosupport the social and business community.The Company has established roots in York-town that goes beyond business. Site Designis not just a business in Town, it is part of thefabric of the Town in all senses, and is gen-uinely interested in Yorktown as a thrivingand vibrant community.

Chereese Jervis-Hill, Events To Remember

Chereese Jervis-Hill has over two decades of

event management and promotion experi-

ence, an accomplished event manager and

public relations professional with drive, vi-

sion, and fresh ideas. Chereese founded

Events To Remember (ETR) in April 2004;

ETR is a full-service event management &

public relations firm located in Mount Kisco,

New York, specializing in conceptualizing,

organizing, managing, marketing and publi-

cizing events and experiences for corporate,

not-for-profits, municipalities and entrepre-

neurs to help them tell their story.

Chereese credits her success to the corporate

experience and knowledge she gained early

on in her career, working for powerhouses

like Philip Morris, Deutsche Bank and

MetLife. Chereese was named a Powerful

Women in Westchester County by The

Westchester County Business Journal (West-

fair Inc.), a Leadership Westchester Alumni

(United Way of Westchester & Putnam’s pro-

gram that contributes to Community Leader-

ship); and one of Westchester’s Rising Stars

“Westchester’s 40 under 40” (individuals in

Westchester County who are making their

mark in their chosen profession at a young

age). Chereese was awarded the Spirit of Car-

ing Award by Support Connection, and the

Community Women of the Year Award by

Hudson Valley Hospital Center.

Chereese sits on the Board of Directors for the

Brieant Youth Alliance, a non-profit organiza-

tion devoted to providing unique educational

programs to children and teens of diverse eth-

nic backgrounds and income levels. Chereese

focuses on the Youth at Risk program, where

she volunteers her time every Wednesday

morning discussing conflict resolution with

teens at Woodfield Cottage Detention Center.

Chereese also sits on the Board of Directors

for Westchester County’s African American

Advisory Board, serving as the Housing Chair.

The African American Advisory Boards role

is to develop and recommend effective poli-

cies, legislation, and services to eliminate dis-

crimination and improve opportunities for

African-Americans and their families living

in Westchester County. Chereese was raised

in the Bronx, NY and attended Fordham Uni-

versity. She resides in Northern Westchester

with her husband Arnold, two daughters

Chyna and Cayci, and their cute little Terrier

The Shrub Oak Athletic Club is a youth sports organization serving NorthernWestchester and Southern Putnam Counties, NY. We are an all-volunteer organi-zation dedicated to bringing the children the best sports activities possible. Our in-house programs focus on the value of teamwork, learning the game, sportsmanshipand just having fun. We offer the following sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cheerlead-ing, Field Hockey, Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball and Volleyball.
