SAFARI BEGINS: Friday, 22 July — (If you arrive on this morning, you will be met at Nairobi International after clearing customs.) After an early breakfast, our guide and Safari expert, Tony Church will meet us and we will make an early start for our flight to Tsavo West National Park. We will arrive in time for lunch in our tented camp. After lunch, we will have time to relax — getting to know our surroundings and the wonderful staff! An afternoon rest followed by a cup of tea and we will be off for our first exciting game drive cameras at the ready! Three nights will be spent in our luxury mobile- tented camp. Saturday & Sunday — 23 & 24 July — Exploring this wild and beautiful park. Red rocks, reddish elephants and blue faraway hills... together, Tsavo West and Tsavo East are home to one third of Kenya’s elephants, as well as a large concentration of game, including buffalo, rhino, giraffe, zebra, lion, leopard, cheetah and antelope. Tsavo West has three rivers flowing through it: the Galana, the Athi and the Tsavo. Our stay here will include some very special visits, including Mzima Springs. Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, 25, 26 & 27— From Tsavo West, we will fly in our private charter to Lake Naivasha, where we will stay in the fascinating home of a well known family. While in the Naivasha area, we will visit other sites around and on the Lake, such as Joy Adamson’s home (Born Free) where we will take a boat out for birdwatching on the Lake; the home of a wonderful artist and last but not least, ‘ Our School’! Visit Lake Nakuru National Park. • Wonderful breakfasts, lunches and dinners! Thursday, 28th — From Naivasha, we will drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve — perhaps the most outstanding wildlife refuge in the world and the area African dreams are made of! Arriving in time for a late lunch, we will have a rest, enjoying our river bank surroundings before we set out on a late afternoon game drive. Drinks by the fire, dinner and overnight in our comfy and happy private tented camp. Friday & Saturday, 29th & 30th — We will be in the Mara at the time of the beginning of the mighty wildebeest migration, which will add to the thrill of our game drives. The Mara game reserve is an extension to the Serengeti (Tanzania) ecosystem and is considered by many to be Kenya's best wildlife sanctuary, where animals can still be seen in vast numbers — lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, hippo, crocodile, antelope and gazelle are but some of the many species to be found. From our own camp, we will have full days exploring the Masai Mara — from sunrise to sunset and after — delicious dinners and chats around the campfire. The visit will include an educational visit to a traditional Masai manyatta, with "shopping" (and bargaining) amongst the makers of the colourful beaded wares the Masai are known for. We will be a larger group in the Mara, having been joined by those who are volunteering at our “Blooming Motivational Camp” to take place at Longonot Primary School the following week. Sunday, 31st — A scheduled flight from the Mara to Wilson Airport, Nairobi. From there, you will be transferred to a wonderful Nairobi landmark, where along with our dayrooms, you will enjoy a leisurely lunch with time for shopping, swimming or just relaxing before you have a light supper and depart from Nairobi International in the evening.
