xSPT small power liquid-filled transformersExpanding a proven technology
ABB complements its small power transformer portfolio with a modern and robust transformer that adopts a circular core and coil solution. xSPT is the ideal solution to increase the reliability and efficiency of your power system.
The challengeResponding to new requirements in a changing world, ABB has expanded its design portfolio by adding the xSPT circular core and coil multi-layer design for small power transformers rated up to 72.5 kV class.
ABB’s solution xSPT brings customers total value by leveraging proven engineering excellence with ABB’s global expertise in power transformers. This design offers high quality, optimized total ownership cost, design strength and maximized life expectancy.
Key features and benefits• Circular core and coil design platform• High and low voltage multi-layer technology• Short circuit strength• Optimized mechanical design • Rigid structure for cleats and leads• Robust active part clamping design based on ABB
experience in power transformer technology• Low sound level capabilities
• Reduced risk of failure in service• Optimized total cost of ownership (TOC)• 3D modeling technology
3D modeling in transformer designABB utilizes a 3D design platform in Creo (Pro/E) CAD system. The adoption of 3D modeling techniques provides the visibility to anticipate, identify and address a range of issues in the design and production phase that could otherwise precipitate serious problems once the unit enters service.
Direct benefits• Faster customer engineering review cycle• Automatically checks potential dimensionnal
conflicts• 3D models available for customer via CAD file
share format• Enhanced performance and reduced failure risks
