Dear Friends,

Please accept our warmest welcome to X|Media|Lab Sweden: Location Based Services.

X|Media|Lab events are held all over the world with our signature themes of bringing together cross-platform, cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural collaborations.

XML: Location Based Services is our inaugural event in Sweden, and we are thrilled to be holding it here in South Sweden, one of the world’s hotspots for media technology revolution.

A stellar gathering of international digital media luminaries has been assembled here in Malmö – joining us from China, India, the US, the UK, Europe and Australia.

Today we will explore the major trends and industry developments in location based services; business models and revenue strategies; interaction and interfaces; opportunities, technologies, best practices and success stories from around the world.

Everyone at X|Media|Lab is here to help you, and especially with your own LBS ideas. The Pro Day Conference and the Lab are your opportunities to create long-term and high-value professional networks with some of the world’s leading digital media professionals – please take full advantage of that.

Our great thanks to the host of brilliant people and our partners we have worked with to make XML Sweden possible, and our great thanks to you for being a part of it!

We look forward to welcoming your participation and to showcasing the world-class innovations of South Sweden in X|Media|Lab events around the globe.

Are we really the “Crown of Creation”?

With the sheer amount of digital development going on one might foresee a Homo Digitalis around the corner.

This thing with geographical information systems and the new Internet of things and places is certainly gonna be a quantum leap for mankind. Just as the old Internet was.

Today it’s even hard to remember a time without email and cell phones. Tomorrow we will not remember what it was like to have paper maps, physical guide books, or car theft, for that matter. Since the maps of the universe are going to be in our pockets, the guide books will be hyper localized and interactive and the cars will always tell you where they are….

The list of what will change when LBS comes around is gonna be very very long. And the thrilling task of finding out how it’s gonna change the way we do things really could get me going…

But I’m not going to, since we’ve got a great set of really smart people here at X|Media|Lab Sweden to help us out with that task.

Most welcome to the first (but not last) Lab in Sweden and to an amazing conference day. My strong belief is that it’s going to change your mind set for ever. The media evolution and the human evolution are happening!

Cheers!

/sten :)
