When the inside of the car is very cold and the player is used soon after switching on the heater, moisture may form on the disc or the optical parts of the player and proper playback may not be possible. If moisture forms on the disc, wipe it off with a soft cloth. If moisture forms on the optical parts of the player, do not use the player for about one hour and the condensation will disap- pear naturally to allow normal operation. 2. Driving on extremely bumpy roads which cause severe vibration may cause the sound to skip. 3. This unit uses a precision mechanism. Even in the event that trouble arises, never open the case, disassemble the unit, or lubricate the rotating parts. Flip Down Panel

This unit uses a flip-down structure that makes possible large-size displays.

CAUTIONWhen opening and closing the FLIP DOWN PANEL,be careful not to catch your fingers. They could beinjured.

1. Always use this unit with the FLIP DOWNPANEL closed.

2. Do not force operations or use this deviceabnormally when opening or closing theFLIP DOWN PANEL.

3. Do not use the FLIP DOWN PANEL as a trayto place objects on when it is open.

4. When closing the FLIP DOWN PANEL, donot press the Open button 1.

5. Strong impacts to the operating or displaysection can cause damage or deformation.

6. If the flip down panel does not open fully,gently open it with your hand.

5. HANDLING COMPACT DISCSThis unit has been designed specifically for play-back of compact discs bearing the mark.No other discs can be played.

To remove the compact disc from its storagecase, press down on the center of the case andlift the disc out, holding it carefully by the edges.

Always handle the compact disc by the edges.Never touch the surface.

To remove fingermarks and dust, use a softcloth, and wipe in a straight line from the centerof the compact disc to the circumference.

New discs may have some roughness aroundthe edges. The unit may not work or the soundmay skip if such discs are used. Use a ball-pointpen, etc. to remove roughness from the edge ofthe disc.

Note on Compact DiscsNever stick labels on the surface of the compactdisc or mark the surface with a pencil or pen.

Do not use any solvents such as commerciallyavailable cleaners, anti-static spray, or thinner toclean compact discs.

Do not use compact discs that have largescratches, are misshapen, or cracked, etc. Useof such discs will cause misoperation or damage.

Do not expose compact discs to direct sunlightor any heat source.

6. DCPThe control panel can be detached to prevent theft. When detaching the control panel, store it in theDCP (DETACHABLE CONTROL PANEL) case to prevent scratches.We recommend taking the DCP with you when leaving the car.

CAUTION

Removing the DCP1. Hold down POWER button 3 for 1 second or

longer to switch off the power.

2. Deeply push in Open button 1 to unlock theFLIP DOWN PANEL.∗ If the FLIP DOWN PANEL does not open fully,

gently open it with your hand.

3. Pull the DCP toward you and remove it.

4. Close the HOLD FLAP.

Be sure to close the HOLD FLAP for safetywhen removing the DCP.

unit.2. Insert the left side of the DCP into the main

unit.

• The connector connecting the unit and the DCP isan extremel y impor tant par t. Be careful not todamage it b y pressing on it with fing ernails,scre wdriver s, etc.

Note:• If the DCP is dirty, wipe off the dirt with a soft, dry

cloth only.

Basic Operations

When this unit is turned on, star ting and stop -ping the engine of a car with its v olume raisedto the maxim um level may harm y our hearing .Be careful about adjusting the v olume .

Turning ON the P ower and Adjustingthe Volume1) Press the POWER button 3.

* To turn off the power, press the POWER button 3 for 1 second or longer.

Loudness Eff ectIn order to turn on/off the loudness effect, usethe LD button 2 for 1 second or longer. Everytime the LD button 2 is pressed and held for 1second or longer, the loudness effect switcheson and off.* When the loudness effect is on, the display will show

“LD”.

Manual Tuning1) Press the BND button !, then select FM1,

FM2, FM3 or AM.2) Press and hold the BND button ! for 2 sec-

onds or longer, then the display will show“MANU”, which means that a manual selec-tion function is on.

3) Press the SRCH Left/Right button @ andselect the right station.

Seek Tuning1) Press the BND button !, then select FM1,

FM2, FM3 or AM.2) If the “MANU” on the display is on, press and

hold the BND button ! for 1 second orlonger. When the “MANU” display is off, theSeek Selection function is on.

Instant Station Recall (ISR)With this function, a specific radio station can berecalled from any mode.

9. TROUBLESHOOTING

Replace with a fuse of the same amperage. If thefuse blows again, consult your store of purchase.

lead. Check each wire for a possible short toground using an ohm meter.

3. Turn the unit back on.4. Reconnect each amplifier remote wire to the

Turn off the power, then press the Open button 1and remove the DCP.Press the reset button for about 2 seconds with athin rod.

Wipe the dirt off with a soft cloth moistened withcleaning alcohol.

Eject the compact disc before loading the new one.

Clean the compact disc with a soft cloth.
