Issues and SolutionsOur actions can lead to
positive change.Issues, problems, issues! There are big and little issues and problems that concern a lot of people. Some problems and issues have obvious solutions while some issues and problems seem to have no solution.
In your Exhibition process you will get a chance to apply your skills as an action taker to some of these issues and problems. You will be choosing a real problem(either local or global) and carefully working through to a solution and take some action to help this issue or problem.
Working through this Exhibition journal will help you organize your time and resources to discover the best solution to your chosen issue or problem.
Good luck!

Expanding your interestsSelect one of the interests you brainstormed in your journal and discover the different paths that could be explored. Use the model demonstrated in class to help you.

What people can do to help them
Care
I want to find out if people care for the animals so that they wont come in Danger.
Why is this a problem/issue?
• You have chosen this problem for a reason.• How does it affect your life or those around you?• How does it affect your feelings or emotions?• Why do you think it is important?
Why do you feel a responsibility for this problem/issue?
Inner Journey
Our actions can lead to positive change.
Japan disasterIt affects worries of people who come from Japan or who are really interested in how it happened and also it affects Japan and it wastes a lot of money because of the tsunami and everything else most of the places where it happened almost nothing is left people who live somewhere else and if there grandma and grandpa live in Japan they don’t even know if they’re alive
I think its really horrible that more then ten thousand people died and I just think that I never want to die in such a way like they did.
I think its important to study how it happened because if people don’t study what the problem was nobody can fix it and it might happen again in a different place and it will never end
REFLECTION 1Our actions can lead to
positive change. You have chosen a topic. •Has it changed from your first thoughts? How and why? •Are you happy with this development? •You have been put in a group. Who is in the group? •Why are they in your group? •Do you think the group can work co-operatively and effectively? How and why?•What did you think about your first week of collaboration?
My topic is tsunamis. It has changed from my first topic because my first topic was Endangered Animals I have changed it because after the disaster of Japan, I was interested in that more than Endangered animals. I am happy that I changed because I think if I would have done Endangered Animals then I think I would be a bit bored and wondering what environment tsunami group would be doing. I think I found a lot of research and interesting facts about my topic. I am happy about my group because we can work together well,. In my group are Miri, Thierry, Riccardo and me. They are in my group because we relate to the same topic tsunamis. I think we worked really well the first week and I think we all got at least something done.
Developing Lines of Inquiry
You have defined your problem/issue in relation to Form, Function, Causation andResponsibility.Look at the remaining two Concepts to clarify your lines of inquiry
Connection How is it connected to other issues/problems?
My topic is connected with Underwater Volcanoes, Underwater Landslides, Earthquakes and Meteorites.
Perspective What are other points of view ?One thing is that people can come together and after the tsunami is gone its actually quite
cool if you survived .
Searching and Collecting

what
Our Process – Searching and Collecting
Important information from our advisor:
We got some tips from our advisor she told us what we could explain, the main topic to tell on the PowerPoint about our topic. She also helped all of us on our research a bit.
Process Reflection
These are things I thought about our topic before BUT now I think different
I still think that tsunamis can be dangerous and it could kill a lot of people.
I learned that tsunamis are seven or eight waves and not only one, I also learned that most tsunamis come close by the pacific ocean
because that is where the most water is on earth ect.
The are ideas we had about our problem/issue before AND I still have now
One thing I knew before and still know is that tsunamis are bad and they kill a lot of people.
These are things about our problem/issue that still challenge us and we still wonder about
I still wonder why tsunamis have to happen and why earthquakes happen and all these other natural disasters.
We would like our audience to leave our presentation with these “BIG UNDERSTANDINGS”
I would like people to go home and know what tsunamis are and also everything that I learned they would know and I want
them to enjoy our presentation
Synthesizing and Connecting

CHOOSING ACTIONIs your action S.M.A.R.T.?
Specific
Measureable
Attainable
Relevant
Time-bound
Specific •is your action clear•Does everyone understand about how your action will happen?•Have you covered 5 “W”s and the “H”?Measurable•How will you know your action has worked?Attainable•Will you be successful taking this action?Relevant•Does this action actually relate to your problem?Time-bound•Will you have enough time to implement your action?

Action Plan
REFLECTIONActing and SharingWe can make a difference
For our action we made a book that has almost the same stuff in it as the presentation. We made this for our action because we wanted people to know who didn’t see our presentation that they could know when they should go to higher ground if a earthquake has just happen and if there are tsunami warning system signs. That was our group action I also made a book of my own presentation and some book marks for people to read and use if they do PYP Exhibition.
Exhibition Night- Reflection:
Our actions can lead to positive change.
When it finally came to PYP Exhibition night I was really nervous and panicking that I would forget my text or make a mistake or just going in front of a lot of people but when it came to start presenting and it was my turn it actually eventually went well and I was proud of myself that I did it and it felt really good when we were done.
My final message is…
The time has past and its time to move on but I just want to say one thing that it was a great time learning all these interesting things and having a great time even with two boys and me being the only girl because Miri had to go to Japan to support her family with such a tragedy that her grandpa died after the natural disaster happened of the tsunami. And this PYP Exhibition was a great experience and that I hope it will stay with me for a long time and I hope that everyone who does PYP Exhibition has this same feeling after there done sharing all there knowledge and learning they have put into these 6 whole weeks.
