    Yellowstone was the first national park in the world. Road betweenCanyon and Tower-Roosevelt is particularly scenic. Park headquarters is atMammoth Hot Springs, 5 miles from north entrance. Park information can be he

    on radio at 1610AM. From Memorial Day to Labor Day ranger-naturalists conduct geyser walks, naturliving history talks, photographic workshops and childrens programs. Free evening programs are givmost park campgrounds during summer season.

    TourGuide System consists of CD player with accompanying disc available for 1/2 and full-day rental.Features stories about folklore, history, wildlife, geology and ecology of the park. Rates are $24.95 foday and $15.95 for half-day rentals.

    Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is a section along the Yellowstone River. Get out of car and walk tocanyon to Rim to see the Lower Falls. Also see Artist Point (which requires crossing the river).

    Mammoth Hot Springs are near headquarters, characterized by terrace-like formations (1 hour minimum Old Faithful and the Geysers (see A179 for details) are best seen when walking to theObservation Point .

    North of Old Faithful isFountain Trail, which is a one-way road (not sure which direction). The Paint Pots are large springs filled with hot clay in many colors.Fountain Paint Pot is one of the most

    famous and is in theLower Geyser Basin . Yellowstone Lake is E and S of the park road between West Thumb and Fishing Bridge (1 hr. min.). Grant Village is where Joe & Gera will be working. It has the best campground in Yellowstone (accord

    J&G). Hayden Valley, located S of Canyon Junction and Village (Grand Loop Road) is site of the buffalo herd

    often block the highway. Canyon Village is nearInspiration Point and Yellowstone Falls , both locations-to-be-seen (recommended
