Membership Survey Since a relatively small number of WITSA members responded to the Membership Survey, the committee recommended that more members needed to participate in the survey in order to achieve its credibility.
The survey was extended and resent to members on December 9, 2009. The deadline for submission was on December 23, 2009.

Regional Vice Chairman Reporting Template
Dr. Poisant reported that the committee had proposed the template for the Regional Vice Chairman to report during the BOD or the GA. He informed that the reporting template will be provided to each Regional Vice Chairman before the Board of Directors meeting in May 2010.
The template was sent to membership committee Chairman & Secretary General. Thereafter, Secretariat will send to the Vice Chairmen for their input.

Regional Office in Latin America
Chairman Khoo requested for AMITI to determine the office location and to work with Dr. Poisant in setting-up the regional office.
Dr. Cassino will inform the BOD on the status of setting up the regional office.
WCIT 2010 Delegate Fee
Chairman Khoo requested that the discussion to be taken offline. He also mentioned that based on the Malaysian experience, it was not easy to obtain grants and stressed again that the members’ concern over the pricing and hoped that 2010 would reconsider.
WCIT 2010 is offering an 80% Special WITSA Discount to five (5) delegates from each WITSA member country. Message delivered to WITSA members on mid-Feb 2010 country/economy. Drs. Taselaar is working with the World Bank on grants.

WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards program – National level
Mr. Bond briefed the GA on the existing WITSA’s Global ICT Excellence Awards program. He mentioned that there was a new initiative to grant WITSA awards at a national level. He stated that this program was optional for national association members. However these awards provided an opportunity to obtain sponsorships and to promote WITSA’s brand on a national basis. He informed the audience that there would be a standardized award plaque designed for this initiative.
The National ICT Excellence Awards program has been developed to include a standardized award consistent with WITSA’s Global ICT Excellence Award. The program was sent to WITSA members on February 13 for members input.Input received. Program will be officially launched.

Hall of Fame Mr. Bond briefed the GA on a new initiative called the WITSA Hall of Fame. He noted that there needed to have concrete criteria developed to recognize ICT industry giants.
A description of the WITSA Hall of Fame program has been developed to include criteria for selection. However, based on the research conducted on similar programs more discussion will be required.
Hall of Fame It was proposed that the Hall of Fame be introduced in May 2010.
Conversation between Drs. Taselaar and Dr. Jim Poisant on Feb 10, 2010. Decided not to launch at WCIT2010.

WITSA Trade Mission (WTM)
• WTM Australia - Melbourne, Australia in conjunction with APDIS 2009 (Asia Pacific
Digital Innovation Summit) @ Dec 14-18, 2009
- A total of 32 delegates from ten economies discussed potential trade
deals and investment prospects worth over US$7.2 million where it
concluded over 200 meetings.
• Two other WTM to be planned for 1H 2010 term– The next targeted WTM is in April 2010– call for members to host the next WTM have been sent out in the recent Feb
newsletter to interested economies to submit request & info to Secretariat to conduct feasibility studies
– The recent membership survey results have indicated that the top 3 countries highlighted as an interest for WTM are:
1. Brazil
2. South Africa
3. USA
• A round of vote will be conducted via email to choose the listed country by mid March.
– The second WTM in plan will be at Amsterdam in conjunction with WITSA's 17th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) on May 25-27 2010.

1. Visit to Western Canada (February 15 – 19, 2010)
• Promotion of WCIT 2012 to Western Canada; Information and Communication Technologies Association of Manitoba and Manitoba government agencies, Enterprise Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Advanced Technology Association, SaskTel, Alberta Government, Western Economic Diversification, Alberta ICT Council.
• Preparation of Canadian delegation for Amsterdam and of the Canadian pavilion at WCIT 2010

2. Visit to Europe (March 3 – 20, 2010)• WCIT 2012 promotional trip to the UK, France, Germany and Scandinavia to meet with several
multinationals• Proposed meetings with Syntec Informatique in France and Intellect in the UK to foster ICT
relationship between Canada and the respective countries
3. Sponsorships• Negotiations with federal agencies and other provinces are ongoing. Also ongoing are negotiations
with several multinationals.
4. Next version of the website (www.wcit2012.org)• The website is currently available in English, French, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. We are preparing
the next version to be released adding Arabic, Dutch, German and Spanish.

Current Status
• WITSA National Awards program concept approved at BOD meeting in Bermuda.
• Draft program outline circulated to members with Feb. 19th commenting deadline
• All comments received supported draft outline; program ready for launch

Program summary
• Awards will be an additional recognition to the existing awards currently offered by our respective member associations
• Awards utilizes the same categories the WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards: Private Sector, Public Sector, and Digital Opportunity
• As with the global awards, these awards seek to recognize the best ‘users’ of ICT; award recipients are typically clients of ICT vendors, although high tech companies may also be eligible
• There are several options with regard to co-organizers or partners
• Up to three WITSA National Awards winners from each member associations can be nominated for the WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards
• Branding: Participating members requested to follow WITSA branding guidelines and use approved trophy proof
