What is SVEA all about?

o Focus: - Strengthen the trainers’ know-how- Strengthen the use of Web 2.0 in VET and Adult Training Institutions

The SVEA regional needs analysis is a result of 5 regional analyses conducted in the SVEA consortium regions. The analysis was structured in four phases:

•Stakeholder mapping•Desktop research •Phone interviews•Regional round table workshops

Barriers in the uptake of web 2.0 in VET and Adult training:

1) Cultural / Acceptance• Lack of students motivation• Lack of acceptance• The mixing of work and social life• Strong reservation

2) Structural / Institutional• Institutional policy• Lack of money and time• Legal responsability

3) Technological• Digital gap• Usability• Lack of safety

SVEA Regional Analysis: Main Findings

Benefits in the uptake of web 2.0 in VET and Adult training:

1) Cultural• High level of collaboration• Chance to acquire new knowledge very quickly

2) Structural / Institutional• Cost effective delivery of courses online• Flexibilty of learning: anytime, anywhere• Course and tools learner-oriented• Building of a learning community

3) Technological• Development of new underpinning knowledge and practical skills

integrated with existing professional work-based competencies• Improved technical infrastructured

Scenario for an optimized implementation of web 2.0 tools in VET and adult traing

To respond to the needs identified during the analysis SVEA has:

• Developed a collaborative online platform to be used by learners and trainers

• Developed web 2.0 training which will be offered to VET and adult training trainers from May 2011 onwards

SVEA Platform is built using Open Atrium and has been designed to be easy-to-use and intuitive.

The main part of the SVEA platform

is represented by the group space

where a user can access all the

available functionalities.

The home page of the group space is a dashboard with

several customizable mini widgets. They can be turned

on and off and arranged to suit the individual user.

Web 2.0 Training

The SVEA learning modules aims to support the trainers from VET and adult training institutions to actually use those social media tools within their training systems.

The SVEA learning modules are designed:

•as part of a teacher-supported online or blended learning course•for individual learning•As well as group-based collaborative learning
