Marine Teens Needed!

If you are a responsible, enthusiastic, passionate about marine life and enjoy working with children, then you should apply to be a Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada Marine Teen.

What is a Marine Teen?

A Marine Teen is someone between the ages of 15 and 18 years. Marine Teens volunteer with Aquarium Day Camps (2 weeks in the summer, plus additional days at March Break), assist at “special event” days both at the Aquarium and at community events, and help plan future Aquarium events and programs for youth. The time spent at the Aquarium will count towards your Community Service hours.

What do Marine Teens do?

Marine teens act as assistants to Day Camp staff and Aquarium Educators. This may involve: preparing materials for activities; facilitating children’s activities, helping to clean up after activities, assisting with

escorting children through the Aquarium and to outdoor areas; providing supervision during breaks. Additionally, Marine Teens will attend approximately 4 meetings per year, and can assist with special events and community events as needed (e.g. Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup).

How do I apply to be a Marine Teen?

Fill out the following form and return it by email, mail or in person no later than Wednesday June 1st, 2016 at 6pm. Forms received after this date will not be accepted. A mandatory orientation and information session

on Wednesday June 15th from 5-8pm is also required. Only those who attend the orientation will be considered for a position.

Please Note:

Marine Teens must be at least 15 years of age as of July 1, 2016, not older than 18 years AND must be enrolled in an Ontario Secondary School in September 2016.Marine Teens will have minimal direct contact with animals, and are not permitted to dive in Aquarium tanks.
